I am a qualified farrier based in Dorset UK. Follow me along for my daily life of maintaining and achieving soundness using a variety of methods of the horses in my care. It is important to note that every horse is different and different approaches need to be taken for different horses.

Great to see the progress, really interesting, especially because I didn't know you could cut sections out of pads like that. Very educational.

Great job mate ❤️ try using spray adhesive on the shoe so the pads stick to the shoe,then you only need to rivet the heels and point of the heart bar. I’ve found the pads are still stuck when you back the newt shoeing

Yes Iv been looking at getting some adhesive for a while now but didn’t think that it for stick for the shoeing cycle. Will make sure I add some to the arsenal.

Hey Harry have you thought about recessing the heart bar on the lateral side for pressure or is it easier to raise and cut the leather pad out ?

I thought about it, but it was as much of the lateral side as possible that I wanted to relive the pressure from and I know that this was it won’t grow out.

Hey harry why not trying refloating with an axe saw blade so you dont need to take the shoe off. To explaiin you can saw the hoof away in the float area daily if you like.

Because this way I don’t have to hacksaw it every few days to a week, I can just leave the package on for the 4-5 week schedule. I re-shod him last weekend and it was still floated on that foot. I’ll do a catch up video next shoeing. 👍

I like the idea tho and may well implement it at some point.
