Күн бұрынWelcome to ACDC Econ and my first holiday edition. In this video I explain consumer surplus, producer surplus, and deadweight loss. Make sure that you can see how each change when there is a change in the market.The consumer surplus at 0:59 in the video is $6000. ($8-$5) x 4000/2. It is a triangle!
Notice that deadweight loss happens whenever the optimal quantity is not being produced. This also happens when there are taxes or externalities. By the way, my wife, Paula, was the one throwing snowballs at me. We had to do it in two takes and I think she enjoyed it way too much.

Hey Jacob! I was wondering if you could give a more detailed explanation on how inflation affects the poverty rate of a country. I'm currently writing my bachelor thesis and want to calculate the economic effects of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine on the Sudan, but I havent really found a satisfactory explanation on how to get to a somewhat realistic "poverty rate outlook" for the country.. I would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction, just a hint on what kind of mathematic/ economic approach to use would already help me a lot! Thank you so much and keep it up!

That is one method but in reality we probably just rely heavily on assumption. Maybe there is an advanced or better method we don't know yet

Economics is stupid,a mandated minimum price is called a ceiling but a guaranteed minimum price is called a floor ?Why is a ceiling lower then floor???

floor is min price, ceiling is max price (this is why they are called such) but only when they are fliped (based on inside of a house) will the price restriction have an effect
