argh.. at the end of the video gzdoom crash XD i think is because i was recording with bandicam and that use lot of gpu memory...

People might not remember but PS2/Xbox/GC games used to get a GBA version and this RE4 would fit that perfectly. Very impressive work.

I remember playing this in 1997, it was my first PC game, so much nostalgia. Then the 2005 remake was released with an awful over the shoulder perspective, they literally ruined this masterpiece and it transformed in a soulless cash grab.

Sorry, but this game came actually in 1992 under the name "Leon vs Spain", a text adventure. The game we are seeing here is, in fact, a remake.

@@redfalcon2383 you both aren't old enough to know that this game was based on an old board mystery game called "Leon and the mysterious village", used to be more popular than Dungeons and Dragons but it flopped soon after. It then got adapted into an atari game and then this.

Remake? I don't see anything from the remake there, I only see the only resident evil 4, the original and the best of all, and this is another sample of what it was and what it still is, not that garbage of the remake

@@siegherz technically yes but it’s not an official parry, also unreliable as enemies tend to eat knife swings And baiting and backing up works better than timing a swing from the knife so I’d say it’s more dodge and counterattack

Funny how in the GBA era this would be consider the "bad version/port" but nowadays is awesome. I myself always loved the effort of making a totally different game for another hardware, based on the original (when it was done right). This is amazing work, you should be very proud!

oh no, in an alternate reality where a port/version of RE4 was made for the GBA, this wouldn't be the worst. probably wouldn't even be top 5.

Were it released back then, it would have immediately been compared to the console version. You've got a point. These days it's easier to see it as it's own thing. Although kid me would have loved this, regardless.

It really depends on how the game direction, though. I'm sure people would love this version as well back then. Unless they made a crummy version.

Lesser ports of a game will always suck, though. If you have the superior console, why buy the port? If you have an older console, you'll feel robbed for not getting the proper game experience. Ideas such as these are only good as experiments, not proper marketable ports Well, except for Spider-Man 3. Game's so bad, the downgraded PS2 version was leagues above it!

In ps1-era it would be 100 % iconic game and who knows what way game industry would came. Very interesting how regenerator would be realized with his fast-prolifiration feature.

This would honestly be scarier to play than the original. Mostly due to limited movement. Edit: NVM. Apparently, this version of Leon is even more physically combatant than I initially thought.

If this game had the ability to go up and down, basically, moving left and right it could have given this game an extra layer of exploration and more monsters to fight at once as you can dodge them. Still tho amazing

Looks very fun! The village in 2D looks like the village in Blasphemous 😂 Suggestion: Fix so that items get picked up without a window on the screen from the second time you pick the same kind of item up (only show the pickup item screen first time for each kind of item and afterwards there can be an small item icon and text and amout in the corner of the screen)

This is amazing. When i read Doom 2 mod i thought it would be in first person like doom 2. Maybe the next fan creation could be like that but this 2D Resident Evil 4 feels amazing. Almost like castlevania

the pesetas ammount depend of how many health you have, if you have 100% of health you will have 1000 pesetas, so 800 pesetas means you have 80% of health
