Very valuable tips! I would like to add one on how to deal with armored Garrador: If you keep your flash grenade you can use it on this last room (most people think flashes are useless on Garradors cause they can't see xD) so throwing a flash grenade will make him face at the spot on which it landed, if you throw it at his back he'll turn around and expose his plaga. This is also helpful for Krauser if you use his arm only to deal with the first one, cause he gets a ton of flashes.

Re4 is one of my favorite games of all time played it since I was a kid and purchased it atleast 4 times in my life. Never have I gotten the handcannon even after doing everything else everytime I picked up the game again. With these guides I think I can finally get it after all these years. Glad to see this game still getting love. 10 year old me would be proud.

He is easy to use, just know your pace and shoot every miniboss in the head with the riot gun. Leon's tactic is run and gun, he relies on quick kill.

Thanks for the guides, found it after having trouble on Castle with Leon, after a few tries with your help finally did it! For some reason the Garrador that spawns at 25 kills did not want to die (even with your tips, he was like a bullet sponge the first 2 tries)... I have now beaten all the maps on Leon with 5 stars, but holy shit that Waterworld was stress inducing, scary and easy at the same time. I've spawned not on the tower (idk honestly where the fuck I was, I did it on the first try so didn't have a chance to explore the map) and decided to roll with it, the Super Salvador wasn't under the tower and I just ran to all the time bonuses I saw along the way, then I ran into some building and there he was - standing there near the door with his back to my face, I nearly shat myself because there was a lot of Ganados behind me, somehow I escaped and climbed the nearest ladder, missed a few tries of knocking him back when he jumps but managed to kill him. Then the other one appeared and I got into 3 near-death situations back to back. At first it was two Ganados that grabbed me while I was trying to escape, then there was a guy with an RPG, and on the last one he nearly chopped my head off, I've managed to jump off almost at the last frame, but I did it in the end. Wasn't the easiest, I think the Island was the one that didn't give me any problems (especially considering that I've done it on a 1st try also), but man I did not want to experience this shit again with Leon lmao Hope that you enjoy what you're doing and all of these words of encouragement and sharing experiences with others give you a boost of energy to continue doing your favorite things!

Can't thank you enough man, when I found out about the requirements for the handcannon I'd resigned myself to never getting it as I struggled so much with Leon and Krauser but thanks to your guides and a few other tips I managed to finally get the gun today and can't wait to properly decimate enemies with it!

This guide is gonna help me unlock the handcannon. Castle and Water World are the last 2 maps I need to 5 star with Leon before getting that amazing magnum.

I never had a problem with Leon, but his power level is obviously weak. He's the only character that doesn't have a power weapon or an increase in damage with his melee attacks. Every other character on the cast has one or both of these, I always found it confusing as to why they made Leon so weak in comparison to the others.

I always wonder if there is a difficulty setting for these kinda vids, because it is NEVER this easy for me. Shooting Salvador in the head multiply times doesnt always stun him for me, and I end up losing a head for not running. Ganados never just stand there staring while I'm blasting ppl away, they always attack me and I tend to get over run fast if I'm not running at all times. And I would never dare have my back turned to enemies for anywhere near that long because I get whooped from behind constantly. In a lot of videos like this ppl have their backs turned for like 3-7 sec with enemy behind em and never get attacked. It don't work like that on my system. Watching videos like these give me heart palpitations with so many risks being taken like it wasn't even a thing. Maybe it's just my system, maybe they use cheats somehow, idk. All I know is it doesn't work like that at all for me.

Leon in RE4 mercenaries is underrated :( I find him the most fun to play and also most entertaining to watch

Feb. 1st 2024 I finally got the handcanon!! I decided, last night to finally start it, looked up how to last night and your video was the first to pop up! Used all of your strategies that you provided, did Village and Castle with Leon last night. Woke up this morning did Leon Base and Waterworld, a long with all of Ada, Krauser and Hunk, finally stopping with Wesker's Waterworld before going to work, finally finished rest of Wesker and I wanna say Thank You!!!!! Do you think on Village you could get the Bonus time upstairs where the explosives are, kill a bunch of them, and then run to the other bonus chest behind the shotgun house for more combo bonus? Also how come you don't use that sick roundhouse kick more? Leon's the best the others are overrated lol.

Nice guide bud. I just started playing as Leon and got 5 stars in three stages and 4 in water world. This map is ridiculously hard. My hands turned into ice when those big chainsaw guys pops up 😄.

After more failed attempts then I care to remember, water world in particular, I 5 stared all maps with Leon. Another good way to deal with the second Super Salvador is to run to the roof with the zip line when you can hear the chainsaw. Doing this helped not getting swarmed by ganados and having a lot of open room. I also found out it's possible to knock Super Salvador down if you can get a grenade to go off under his feet.

Wow I had no idea about the spawning issue on the Village. I just got the game on Switch and I swear the spawns were super low compared to GameCube and Wii. Good to know! I was still able to get 5 stars on most characters, but it's tough when enemies won't show up. This will help me a lot with the remaining characters.

My data got deleted when I transferred to my PS5 so I had to do this again and although I’ve played this game many times I kept getting killed till you mentioned that water bit when he falls and I remembered the first time I got 6k when I was a kid was doing that & totally forgot about it! Such a nostalgic movement thanks for the refresh! And right after watching your vid I beat it!🤭

I once challenged a Super Salvador using Leon face to face with his Riot Gun (in Ps2 and yes. The first Super Salvador is not idle and always active wherever you spawn), and he didn't get staggered. And... you know what happened. *Decap!* :v That terrified me and made me stop playing for some moment. But thank god, I already got the Handcannon. This is the most awesome guide of Mercenaries gameplays I've ever seen for Leon. 👍

Thanks to your guide, I've now five stars on all the Mercenaries. Barring Leon at the castle level. Took me about 30 attempts to clear Waterworld with him but I figured out my own way of killing the Super Salvadors. The problem I'm having with the castle level, is that i can't keep the combos up with Leon. I just keep falling short of the 60k. I don't know if this is worse than constantly getting killed by the Super Salvadors. Lol

Had HUNK's Waterworld and Leon's Castle run left. Managed to get HUNK's run done but couldn't get anywhere on the castle. I'm determined to get the hand cannon so did a KZfaq search and found this video. I'll definitely try Leon's Castle run tomorrow and hopefully your advice will work. Been trying and failing since 2005!

Honestly I'm of the mindset just because Leon is simplest doesn't make him the worst character by far, I actually wind up struggling with HUNK the most as much of a badass as he is because sometimes I just don't really have a answer for some boss enemies with him like the other characters do.

The Castle... 69,310 and finally (Thanks to your help and advice) I've unlocked the Hand Cannon! Cheers man. I can get on with my life now 😂

Amazing guide. I had not played mercenaries since back when i played on the ps2. Im playing in the switch now and attempting to get all 5 stars on all levels with everyone. I thought i would do leon first since he is the hardest. It only took me two attempts on the village following this guide and I got 66k not being very good at it. Amazing! I will update once I get the handcannon!

It also depends on what version you play on. Any release after the Wii version ported the hardest version of Mercenaries, it was meant to balance how easy the wii aiming system made the game. Also the game was originally meant to be played at 30FPS not 60. So this affects their AI as well. The only problem was is that once they released these versions to download on platforms like Xbox and the switch they ported the more difficult mercenaries without the ready use of the wii controls. So now it’s harder.
