I honestly think that if Russo and Finlay were a part of the army they would’ve been asked to join by Reacher himself hell I see Finlay as a major or even a captain like O’Donnell was, and Russo being a major or even a colonel of a military unit like Reacher

From my understanding Special Forces are usually trained in a wide variety of skills so for example if the medic is wounded/killed another team member can cover that hole and give people medical treatment instead. They're usually specialized in a particular skill but if needbe they can fill gaps. So he might not be as trained as a full blown medic but it stands to reason he'd have a general understanding of something like a catheter.

Reacher was only slightly right about a catheter. It does indeed have a balloon at the end of it that you fill with saline. But this balloon is inflated inside the bladder, not the urethra . So if you over inflate it either with air or water it will simply burst inside the bladder. It is not in the urethra it is in the bladder therefore when it bursts it does no damage to the urethra, it also does no damage to the bladder. That being said, it was a cringe moment watching.

I doubt that inflating that balloon would affect the urethra. That balloon is situated in the bladder.
