bandotaku the two languages are closely related but by far not the same language. Tho I get the confusion if you have not really been exposed to these languages. Fun fact the Dutch language is closer related to English then German.

@@bandotaku as A Dutch person I never understood the German language, even after taking classes in High School. So I'm not really sure if they really do sound the same. I think it's just the hard pronounciation of the letter G and the fact both languages have words with the letters sch in it. To foreign people both sound a bith harsh but there are just a few words that really are the same.
