I’m a native Californian and have been listening for years now. I grew up in the 60’s. My family were musicians and sang all of the old songs from the 20’s and up. I have never heard a voice like hers before. I know she’s learning English and speaks fairly well, however I get the impression that she doesn’t think so. Her story is actually worse than I’ve seen mentioned. Truly a Phoenix rising from the ashes due to an amazing loving family who fell in love with her when she was 5 and took her in. Irena’s love and encouragement and support are unbelievable. No pushing just supporting. Truly all of these wonderful people are inspirational, imo. She’s recently come out with some amazing originals that she wrote the music and absolutely beautiful lyrics for. I do recommend the above comments as well as her newer originals “Revelation”, “Next to You” and anything else by her. Whatever she decides to cover absolutely is usually as good if not better than the originals. “Crow, on “The ShowMaskGoon” is a must see! She not only performed on stage but also helped with the amazing choreography. She is amazingly humble, kind, rather shy and a very sweet girl. Her younger stage performance of “Oh Darling”(Beatles cover) is phenomenal as well as at 13 on a school stage “Me Voy” and “Joan of Arc”(or the Arc de Triumph) at age 13 are beyond belief. This was Diana's second season on "You Are Super" and the next to last performance of that second season (which was a 'champions' season) so the judges were already well familiar with her style and control. It's interesting to note that they tried to press their buttons so it was not too intrusive of the performance. Her first season at age 14 was so impressive, especially her performances of Rechenka (River - a story about a soon-to-be orphaned bride going to the river to commune with the spirit of her departed mom in hope of receiving her blessings) and the French pop song Derniere Danse (in French - though the best version was after the show's conclusion where she gets to stretch the song a little further than two mins - yet that 2 min show performance was priceless because of how blown away the judges were.)

First, Diana Ankudinova was only 15 during this performance. Some reactors have questioned if Diana Ankudinova was using Auto-Tune during this performance. The general consensus from many vocal professionals and recording studio sound engineers is no; there is no auto-tune being used, and what many do not know is Diana Ankudinova mastered, and is using a vocal technique known as polyphonic singing which is an extraordinary accomplishment for someone so young. A singer that has mastered the polyphonic singing technique can create one, and sometimes two, different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones that can make it sound like more than one voice singing which results in many mistakenly believing she is using Auto-Tune when she is not. The Wicked Game live performance happened in May 2019. This performance was recorded when she took part in a talent show for disadvantaged teens called You Are Super and it ended with her winning the competition after her mesmerizing performance. The year before, in 2018 Diana was 14 and first competed in the You Are Super competition singing the Russian folk song, Rechenka which she performed in her native Russian language. It was during the 2018 performance of Rechenka that many voice professionals started paying serious attention to Diana saying, she was showing such low, rich, deep, and resonant sounds, and her musicality and stage presence was well beyond her years. Diana has said she was unhappy with her lack of a higher vocal range which caused her rejection from the more prestigious vocal academies. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic. Diana was born May 2003. 31 in Arsenyev in the Far East Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her, had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, mistreated her severely and tried to drown her. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone in the street and took the 3- year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Finally, there she found love... from Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina ... Of course, taking a child into the family was not easy for Irina but she became her 'mother' when Diana was 5 years. Diana now lives in a poor but loving family. Diana spoke badly but sang all the songs from cartoons. An acquaintance of her mother, a musician, noticed that Diana had a perfect pitch and advised her to take singing lessons. Diana's mother became her daughter's manager, she found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with the organizers and selected a repertoire. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances and competitions is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She is looking for sponsors because flights are expensive and took extra sewing courses. Since then she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 moved with her small family to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana now also has a grandma and has also lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her. 2013-2015 Diana played in the theater studio of Dmitry Marfin, director of children's programs at the Togliatti Philharmonic Society, whom Diana valued as 'a real workaholic and fan of her craft'. After her debut on June 3, 2014 (Diana played Becky Thatcher in the jazz musical 'Tom Sawyer and His Friends'), she met Svetlana Ivanovna Vovk, the director and pop singing teacher at the Togliatti College of Music and Rodion Shchedrin, member of the jury international and national music competitions and Diana's journey continued ... Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win. So, in 2017 on February she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened: In 2018 and 2019, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international Competition instead of “You are Super”, which was launched in 2016 specifically for adopted and orphaned children. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to KZfaq and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. Diana won a scholarship to the music college. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow so that she could begin her vocal training with the best teachers in Moscow such as Professor Olga Donskoy (she died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
