Virbratto is such a good song, but Stellar were actually forced to do the sexy concept and didnt fully understand what their MVs were insinuating while filming them, because they were actually innocent girls. they were very uncomfortable doing this concept so its very sad. there are other kpop groups who LOVE doing that concept (ex: laysha) but stellar were forced by the company :(

Stellar songs were incredible, especially Vibrato and Crying but unfortunately the management made them do things they didn't want to and lied to them many times and didn't even pay them anything. They got a lot of hate in Korea but they're really sweet girls and they are super talented if you watch some of their live performances they are incredible. Sexy concept used to be a real thing in kpop and I used to love it but I only like it if they're all adults and comfortable doing it (like Sistar). I do miss when we used to have women (and not girls) debuting

The fact that three of these songs are not even the sexiest song of these groups and yet Grape's already shook. Wish he could also check Stellar's "Marionette" and AOA's "Miniskirt"

i’m pretty sure stellar were rlly exploited in their days (like the concept was super pushed by the company and one of the members was on a show with other members of disbanded girl groups, and she talked about their mistreatment and forced costuming) which sucks :( so i think you caught on to the more pushed sexy concept for their group

Brown Eyed Girls literally has a song called "Warm hole" and it is EXACTLY what it sounds like and it blows my mind every time I remember that. TBH I don't mind 2nd gen, but none of it has like... Brown eyed Girls being the only 2nd gen group on this reaction vid happens to be the longest running active girl group since 2006...They have never officially disbanded yet, and makes a music comeback from time to time...You are right the abracadabra hip dance move is an iconic one...Many k-pop groups cover this song...Even PSY featured the dance along with one member GAIN to Psy's song Gentleman....You should check out their song SIXTH SENSE...Gain is also somebody to check out...She is like the madonna of korea...for those who know what she did on her BLOOM music video...It will have your jaws drop, if u know what i mean AOA a popular 3rd gen group had quite a lot of hits...Like A cat being their game changer song in their career...Sadly now they have an unfortunate feud between some of the members...and recently AOA reputation isn't doing that great now EXID's song up & down is so catchy..I remembered being very impressed by them...But during their promotion the song was not succesfull until a few years later...the songs came back to the charts after few years & then the dance went viral because of a fan-cam of Hani one of its members. STELLAR's vibrato is actually a very nice catchy song....And i too was shocked by the MV...Yet i was actually celebrating & happy for them for embracing their sexuality so confidently...However i soon found out that the girls were tricked and forced into doing this overly sexy concept...I then feel bad & mad for them

I know exactly what you mean. Kpop went down a path with the sexy concept in 2nd gen; it was entertaining, but it was a dead end. The groups ended up trying to top each other's comebacks in how edgy they could get, and there's a limit to how sexy a group can be without being cringe or uncomfortable. A few of them crossed that line, in my opinion. Third gen girl groups hit the reset button with the "girl crush" concept, which was still sexy but more sustainable. In my opinion, Brown Eyed Girls was an exception to what I just said. They were sexy, but it was consistently creative and interesting. They were provocative in every way, not just with sex. They did the sexy concept in a way that was an art form.

I remember that most of the members of Stellar BEGGED their CEO to not make them wear those really revealing outfits for vibrato, because they knew their parents would see it. But the CEO tricked them and manipulated them into wearing them. They were abused the entire time they were under that company. Forced to do things and concepts they didn’t want to. Even going as far as to traumatize one member so badly she no longer wears revealing clothes out of fear she’ll be shamed for it. They were such talented girls and deserves a proper company with proper ethics to guide them and promote them but ugh, at least they got out in the end.

I believe most of the groups you reacted to considered 3rd gen except for brown eyed girls they’re 2nd gen group. For me, I liked sexy concept when second gen groups did it (at that era) I think they did it flawlessly and so elegant. for 3rd gen it differs, I actually think AOA did it very well, but it becomes repetitive and A LOT at that era, maybe cause many groups became popular with the sexy concepts so it felt like companies tried to take advantage of that by doing the same. i recommend you sixth sense by Brown eyed girls it’s so iconic they’re vocal legends, good luck and miniskirt by AOA 🙄 also AOA has a stage in queendom covering mamamoo’s egotistic and it becomes a huge topic in korea cause it was about breaking gender roles🫢 they directed the stage by themselves. the concept along with the lyrics and dancers honestly it was so good I highly recommend it to you

i mean brown eyed girls obviously still got so much flak for the mv at the time but they stuck with with it and it ended up being so iconic. imo i feel like they were always the pioneers for the sexy concept in kpop. and now that the sexy concept is almost completely gone, i hope a group (full of adult women who are comfortable with doing it) will soon bring sexy back just like beg did and hopefully companies would treat their idols better too when it comes to that

I felt bad for Stellar. They originally had cute concepts but they didn't get any recognition. They then switched to "sexy" concepts and became popular but got criticized a lot. In Marionette, the members were tricked into doing provocative scenes. Their agency had control of their image and would threaten them if they complained.

Actually Stellar has amazing titles, they're ultra-sexy but their songs are so fucking good also notice the key change in the 3rd act of Vibrato after the "vagina imagery" came up, everything went faster as the notes went higher which I absolutely LOVEEEE

Brown Eyed Girls' Abracadabra is THE song. It blew up massively (one of the best selling girlgroup songs in history), the hip dance move is still remembered to this day (PSY also used it in Gentleman, one of the members, Gain is on that MV), and girlgroups still do covers of this song from time to time. It was massive. And yes, it was controversial as well.

Abracadabra was the song that got me interested in Kpop, absolutely legendary song.

"Abracadabra" was amazing. Wow. I didn't feel "Up&Down" at first, but it definitely got better. I love the connection you saw between them & Red Velvet. Those girls often have murder on their minds in MVs. "Stellar" killed me, but I also loved it.

EXID and AOA are not 2nd Gen but 3rd Gen. 2nd Gen sexy concept groups are Girl's Day, Dalshabet, Nine Muses, After School, Sistar, etc. The boom of that concept was between 2012 - 2015, many groups migrated to that concept because it was more profitable, some always had that line but they did much sexier during those years.

I know that many people have said this in the comments, but I also want to say that it's important that when consuming kpop related media we understand that the some of stuff that goes on isn't of the will of the idol. I'm sure it depends on the group and company their under, but many idols don't have control over the media that they put out- and that's the case for Stellar. I really do like Stellar's music, but it's sort of hard to watch their music videos since I found out what was going on behind the scenes. Similar thing with 9muses too. I guess I'm just always hyperaware of sexy concepts in the kpop industry, because a lot of the time the girls aren't the ones wanting to have these sexy concepts, they're just under contract and don't have the power to refuse- many of them are young too and the kpop company's like to exploit that. You were right about iconic, Abracadabra's hip sway point choreo was well-received you can see celebs doing it on variety shows. Brown-Eyed Girls back then were one of the senior groups, and they were known for that sophisticated sexy image, especially the very pretty Son Gain. Sad that you happened to pick one of the tamer songs by AOA. Their sexy era peaked with MINI SKIRT, CONFUSED and SHORT HAIR. 😅 I'm a bit heartbroken about STELLAR. They were borderline extreme back then; it's not for teens anymore. After they disbanded, their members admitted that they were forced to do those concepts/ image by their company so I feel sorry for them. If you decide to make a Sexy groups Part 2, other groups that were sexy and have a discography to back them up are NINE MUSES and GIRLS DAY: NINE MUSES were known as the group with tall models and they were one of the few groups back then that dared to do proper sexy IMO. Also, they have a strong discography. criminally underrated group. Start with GLUE, WILD and DOLLS. Another notable sexy group is GIRLS DAY. They started as a cutesy group but as the members matured they tried sexy and they peaked with that image. Strong discography too! Their bests were EXPECTATION and SOMETHING.

Ah Yeah is about how women are harassed in innocent situations like at work or online but as soon as they embrace their sexuality and are confident in themselves it's looked down on or censored. Sadly for Stellar with Vibrato they were LUCKY to be wearing that much! Their company originally wanted them in those slip dresses with g-strings underneath instead of the underwear. Stellar were hesitant and so the company said "Let's just take some photos to see how it looks and then we will change it" and then proceeded to release the photos of them in the dresses and g-strings. Their company was horrible and over-sexualized the girls (one of the members can't drink white milk to this day because of a scene of her drinking it being used sexually in a different MV). I love sexy songs and concepts but only when the group themselves want to do it. In this case they were forced because sex sells and the company wanted money with no regard to their mental well being.
