Today we react to the closet of blogger and socialite Kryz Uy, who has one of the most magnificently designed closets I think I've ever seen in my life. Her video is much more about the design of the closet and how she's arranged everything, which isn't usually what we focus on her on HauteLeMode, but definitely something new and interesting to explore!

i think you've reacted to the wrong crazy asian closet tour. She's one of the rich asian but not that crazy rich. Also, she's one of the minimalist stylist here in Philippines. She's into what we call "tita style" or the comfortable fashion (e.g flats, nudes, whites, wearable to all events) not the editorial ones. If it helps to understand her style, she's the brand ambassador for UNIQLO here in the Philippines.

Words to live by. I’ve been going to my cobbler since I was 16 😁 it’s an investment to buy quality classic shoes and pay to repair and maintain them, ends up costing less than buying ones that need replacing after one season. Also a shoe stretcher is a game changer.

It's because it's literally a normie closet. There's nothing unique about it. It's the same as almost everyone else who likes basic shit. It's getting boring at this point, seeing all the simplicity. Because simplicity is COMMON, which translates too: Basic and uninteresting and it's a truth that folk with basic tastes struggle to admit. I'm not even rich, but I like more colour, more OOMPH. I mean, I get pretty lazy when dressing for the day, but even then, I like SOMETHING with an interesting or artistic design, or one of my printed t-shirts that have video game characters on or merch. It's a matter of taste and some of us want something that's interesting and less predictable. No hate on her though, I did like some of the stuff she had, despite not getting to see any actual pieces of clothing, just how they looked hanging up and folded. lol
@salmahernandez3142
@salmahernandez3142 2 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest issue with her simple versatile closet is that it was 20 minutes of essentially just looking at the hardware of a closet. It's almost as she herself knew there was nothing particular about her clothes because she did not show any clothes. Like Luke mentioned multiple times where is an outfit, where is your favorite item of clothing, where is the the combination of clothing to make the simple extraordinary?!?! There is beauty in the extravagance of the gaudy as in the structure of the simplicity. I saw nice nods, good lighting, aesthetic pleasing geometric storage and a muted menagerie of clothes. In the end it seems wasteful more than anything as she could simply have 12-15 of underwear/garments, socks, shorts, pants, dresses, shoes, and jackets as the essence, given the lack of demonstration, is minimal love for a clothes closet that size.

It's sad that people are expecting extravangance as if it is the norm. She has money, she looks good and she is practical. What the hell is wrong with that?! Her closet is a dream. Her wardrobe has very wearable pieces. Again, what is wrong with that? Not everyone wants to die for fashion. Not everyone wants to run in heels. This closet is very much reflective of her age and lifestyle. Not everybody is a Jeffrey Star. I wouldn't want to be Jeffrey Star. Not everybody needs to be over-the-top to be appreciated.. Her whole closet can be somebody's house and still that is not enough. She is still so basic.

I think the issue I had with the video was that she didn’t show anything that’s really special to her. I don’t care how much my clothes cost, some items hold sentimental value and have a story attached to them. This tour, only showcase the layout of her closet and I thought that was kinda disappointing because we didn’t really get to see that much insight

I agree I was hoping to see what she’s into what’s her guilty pleasure in the fashion world. Everyone had a little thing they are obsessed with. She talked about her shoes being the first thing she splurged on when she finally had money. But there was no like “this is something I absolutely had to have and splurge on cuz I saw it when I was young and it’s limited and rare” the same way people can be super humble and also have an old Aston Martin but still drive a semi normal car. It’s their passion.

The latter is often saved for special occasions where you actually need to dress to impress. You won't see ball gowns hanging in their closets, as the crazy rich reach out to local (sometimes even international designers) to make a custom piece for them.

Or nurses and firefighters would be the richest profession. Not hedge-fund managers or other bullshit professions. Also many have a blind believe of defending the rich because they tell themselves they will be on of them one day. Newsflash. You won’t. 9/10th of the wealth is accumulated by the wealthiest. @@melz6625 dude you are everywhere hating the rich people lol. There's advantage and disadvantage to everything. It's the world's law now and won't be able to change it and it will never change even if you keep your hatred towards rich people. Rich needs poor, Poor needs rich. Also since we don't use the barter system, if the money flows freely there will be inflation which is terrible. "Zimbabwean ahem."

Love the elephant bag (sooo cute :-), the ballet flat collection (I'm more of a girly girl and love flats) and the white textile sneakers with embroidered polka dots.. I agree with you though, I also would have loved to see a few individual clothing pieces with a story behind them (why does she like the piece? where is it from? etc.)..

Yes Kondo has a style... It is very specific, but you can incorporate as much or as little as you like depending on how organized you are. I love it. It makes organization so easy and doable. Frustration free, really.

I really appreciate how sweetly demanding you are of people: expressing disappoint about something and saying they (or it, in the case of the boots!) deserve more/better. And I understand the critique about her not pulling a piece and discussing it. KZfaqr Monique Parent does that and it's great. I also like how your environmental concerns are often woven into your videos. Thank you for the reminder that we all can do better regarding how we live our lives... And I admire how open you are about pulling lessons from/getting inspired by what others are doing. You, too, can have your closets light up when you open them. Both Home Depot and Ikea have the set ups. And finally, *word* on the cobbler advice! A critical person in one's life. Mine just retired and I am lost....

Whenever I purchase anything from a boutique I ask them if they have any spare hangers. Some stores are happy to unload them and will give you a whole bunch. Some labels have really nice velvet covered ones that are perfect for slip dresses or satin/silk tops that tend to slide off of regular plastic hangers.

I'd love to know how everyone organizes their closet space. Like you, I also hang EVERYTHING. I organized my closet into 8 sections: work/going out tops, work/going out bottoms, casual tops, casual bottoms, casual dresses, work/going out dresses, jackets, and totes/shapeless bags. I organize everything by length and then color. Like her, I also organize tops by sleeve length. This system works for me because I never have to look through clothes that are inappropriate for the occasion and by hanging everything my clothes are never wrinkly.

18:06 I'm reasonably confident the bug on those shoes is not a bee or roach, but a fly. I think I've seen those shoes before, from the brand FLY, which uses a single fly as their logo. Great shoe brand for people shopping in the low hundreds range. So comfy. I bought a pair of sandals from them and walked 10+ miles a day in Italy in them. Plus, they hold up. My favorite pair of Flys is going strong on four years, and you would never be able to tell. My boots are just now starting to show their age at 8, but you would think they were 2 or 3.

Great videos, education and most importantly the your POV. The new bag that she loved which was housed with her Chanel’s is called. “Fauré Le Page” is a French firearms manufacturer established in Paris in 1717. Founded by Louis Pigny, the company remained in the same family until 1913. Throughout its history, the manufacturer was successively called Pigny, Le Page, Le Page Moutier and finally, Fauré Le Page in 1865. The brand's unique and luxurious craftsmanship quickly gathered a royal and imperial clientele. In addition, the manufacturer’s commitment to the French Revolution together with recognition from authors also enhanced the prestige of the brand. The company which had long made holsters and gun bags now also makes organizers and handbags.
