The people talking about WASP. All the best metal bands in the 80s were death metal and black metal bands.. You're talking about Wasp. Wasp is pop as hell compared to real talented death metal bands. Wasp is very over rated.

While never a huge RATT fan, they always had killer guitar players! Pearcy may not have been the best vocalist but he was good for that band for sure. At 65 he’s been through the ringer. The “skeleton” comments in the video are probably around the time he was fighting liver cancer and hepatitis to boot. So props to a 65 year old fighting the good fight!

You guys focus mostly on the singers as if the rest of the band is irrelevant. They *are* bands and mention should be given to what original members are still in the bands and how they’re also holding up. For examples, Dokken was also about 80’s guitar hero George Lynch. The guy you couldn’t name with the iconic skull guitar. First thing anyone who was a fan will notice in the last footage is that Lynch is no longer in the band. That stuff matters if you’re gonna compare bands through the years. What original members are still around? Easy for a band to still be rockin’ with the aging singer surrounded by a bunch of young energetic kids on stage who weren’t even born when they hit the scene. Otherwise, great series and fun to watch

Dokken songs aren't lame. Many of their best songs they rarely even play. You guys have never heard "Prisoner" , "Unchain the Night " , "Heaven Sent " ,"Kiss of Death " , "Night by Night ", " The Hunter" and many more. Same thing with Ratt including " Back for More " , "No Surprise " , "What's It Gonna be " , "You're in Trouble " , "Givin' Yourself Away " , etc. etc..... Wasp was great also. Just not as good as Lizzy Borden, who most people never heard of. Even though metal was struggling in the 90's it didn't mean that we didn't get to see them . Saw Dokken 4 times in the 90's and one time even snuck in venue with Mick Brown's girlfriend at the time in Old Bridge Nj. I hated alternative/grunge and still do . Lost many friends back in the day but rock and metal stands the test of time. Many unknown bands never made it, but back in the late 80's there were more bands out then in any time in history. So many unknown bands from 80's that most people never heard of that have quality music. The great thing about 80's bands was that there were so many songs that got lost in shuffle that people have no clue about .

Not true about the late 1980s having the most Metal bands . 1984 was the year the largest number of Metal bands had albums on the market . 1000s of Real Metal bands called it a day in 1985 . They were tired of drowning in a sea of Commercial Hard Rock and Crossover Thrash Metal . However there were a larger number of Slick Major Label Metal Lite Pop Acts in the late 1980s . Even all those albums don't even come close to the Import and Independent label product unleashed in 1984.

@@jiffnelson374 The thrash metal bands had more talent but a lot of what is popular focuses more on style over substance. Pop metal, hair, glam... whatever you called it was much safer for radio stations to play. Heavy metal is more of a grass roots thing where word-of-mouth was how a lot of these bands got recognized. The only chance you had to see them on TV was at midnight on Saturday during Headbanger's Ball. The hair metal bands could be seen anytime. As a massive W.A.S.P. and Dokken fan, I feel like these bands deserve way more credit. And so I must embark on this rant: W.A.S.P. definitely has the whole performance and shock rock thing going on, but hidden beneath the blood, skulls, and guts is just purely amazing songwriting from Blackie Lawless. They did have the glam looks in the 80s, but I never really grouped them with that group musically because even then they were much heavier than the rest (check out songs like 'King of Sodom and Gomorrah' and 'Show No Mercy'). Post-80s, they basically left the whole glam metal thing behind, still maintaining the shock factor, and went on to write much heavier and darker albums, many of which are concept albums like 1992's The Crimson Idol, which is Blackie basically showing people that the rockstar lifestyle ain't as fun as it seems. And they released a slew of these albums across the 00's, dealing with religious and political themes. So they have aged real well, and despite reinventing themselves a couple times (including a short-lived industrial period that you guys might dig) they still maintain that W.A.S.P. sound and feel. Onto Dokken. Dokken is interesting because to me they are a merging of 80s melodic rock and AOR with straight up heavy metal. So, while they were all glammed up in the 80s, just like W.A.S.P., its the songwriting. Dokken is the kind of band that you can chill out to, and also headbang to, they just have a perfect blending of these poppy melodies with heavy riffs and shredding from the master George Lynch. So these bands really transcend the glam label, whereas Ratt, who I also love to death, are on the "hairband" (hate the term, but I'll use it for now) sleazy sex, drugs, and rock n roll side of things. And a fun fact: Dokken's original bassist was Juan Crocier, who went on to become the bassist of Ratt, and played with them on all of their classic albums, and for a time in the early 80s was in both bands simultaneously Rant over, keep up the great work guys, always look forward to these vids

While Eric and Darrel spent all their time with air guitars and chasing down Eric's sister Liz ,to film her, I was trying to think of Eric's education. His sister went to an elite private school who planned a 3 week trip to Europe. I made Eric, 14 yrs., come along with us to get a broader education. He didn't want to go. What a waste! We traveled down the Appian Way outside of Rome for an entire day with lectures from me and our tour guide about the handlaid stone and the oldest highway in the world! I really liked Ratt & Dokken as a teenager ( class of '89), Donn Dokken wrote really good songs to me, "Burning Like a Flame" was my favorite, but "Alone Again without You" was a beautiful but sad song & gave me complete opposite emotional reaction (that always stood out to me & impressed me greatly) that a band could play a song that made me feel intense emotion, then play another song that caused equally intense feelings. I'm not even going to start up about how amazingly talented guitarist George Lynch is. Famous guitarist frequently say how much they admire & respect him. I was a fan of Lynch Mob, a well with "Wicked Sensation" being a great song.
