What made PTD so special was that it was to mark the end of the pandemic and the return of concerts. JUST before the pandemic started, they had announced (and sold out)their global stadium tour. As any ARMY will tell you, BTS are PERFORMERS. And though they tried to keep us optimistic with a constant stream of fresh music during the pandemic, the cancellation of their MOTS Tour was VERY disheartening for a group of people who believe that PERFORMING before fans is just as important for an artist as creating music for them. Despite that....despite the cancelled tour, despite the global pandemic, despite being socially isolated, and despite being forced to stand still after hustling for almost a decade, they STILL thought of ARMY. They released music that didnt match the rest of their discography, but was the music we needed in those turbulent times. THAT'D what BTS does. They are true artists....who only create music that heals. Music that heals them, us and MILLIONS of ppl who heard Dynamite, Butter or PTD on the radio, not knowing it was a BTS song, but briefly felt happy during a time that everyone was going through so many negative emotions. P.S: To help themselves process the pandemic, BTS released an album, BE...which carried the message of how important it is to live in the moment, and when you're going through overwhelming emotions... to let yourself BE....to feel what you need to feel. It was an entirely self-produced album that all members of BTS heavily contributed to creating.

One of the writer of PTD is Ed Sheeran. And in this MV, BTS uses sign language so that deaf ppl could understand and enjoy the lyrics too. They are kind and thoughtful like that. Just some fun fact.

Since you mentioned that you are going to check out other K-pop artists after this, then as ARMY, for the newer idols especially their ‘younger sibling group’ TXT, BTS really tried to help them during their trainee and debut times. It’s too bad you only listened to the English songs before deciding to move on to other groups since their other ones are so meaningful, deep, and amazing beats and bars. Many may disagree with me yet I still believe that BTS paved the way for new generation K-pop groups. Have fun and enjoy! BTS is truly their own genre. They are the best vocally, in their musicality, variety, visuals, choreography and lyrics in all of Kpop. You've got it that they are Top tier. BTS paved the way for a lot of the recent groups that now emulate them. BTS has a discography of more than 300 songs, excluding the Solo work that the members do. All their title tracks and bsides are gems, so good, that there are really no bad songs. They have more than ten years of content a lot to even get through. They will be back by the middle of 2025, and it is going to be mind boggling. Pity that you've only covered their English Songs, hope that you will look into their actual work in Korean and Japanese. I also agree after this, now you can react to Taylor’s Guide to Bangtan 7 and Mic Drop, Dope. Again, I’ll say that this one is more a flash mob dance and uses sign language for the chorus. The rap line is: RM, Suga, JHope. Vocal line: Jin, Jimin Jungkook (JK), and V. Dance line: originally, J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook, and V got added after he performed Singularity. That may help you too. I love this song! And I love that BTS included dance moves that are sign language for the hearing impaired. I think the three words they have sign language for are “happy”, “dance”, and “peace”. There is a super sweet video where some deaf kids were watching this song and were so excited when they saw BTS doing sign language in their dance. I know this is two days late. Please put Mamamoo on your list. They are a 4 member girl group widely known as the best vocals in kpop, with stage presence to match. I'd suggest their KILLING VOICE performance. Four superstars collectively as Mamamoo and individually as each member has their own very successful solo career.

There are so many genres even within k-pop and Korean music. I personally love k.soul or r&b and k hip hop.

So Far you have listened to the three English songs, and I wouldn't even consider it K-Pop music personally. I would consider it pop music. Western producers and writers wrote it, it's in English, The song style is Western, and the target audience was for English speaking audiences. So it wasn't produced through the KPOP system, unless of course you count RM and SUGA's rap verses in Butter. RM re-wrote the verses to fit them. They write their own music most of the time, but the English songs were written by Western songwriters, and Ed Sheeran wrote Permission to Dance. It would make sense since English isn't their first language, and translations can be tricky. Usually when they are given a song by Western Aritsts, they add their own Korean lyrics or change the production of the song somewhat, to fit their aesthetic or the style and/or meaning they are going for. K-Pop isn't Korean Music, it's the K-Pop Industry that creates IDOLS. There are many different genres of music within' K-Pop, but also, outside of K-Pop. How I missed this reaction So don’t believe anyone mentioned, but the dance they do again at the end of the video is with their whole crew, also it’s very special meaning, Tae must know someone who is deaf because he will do sign language a lot of time like 🙌🏼 waving your hands in the air like this is cheering in sign language, so the dance Scratching their body while raising the thumb and slightly bending the rest of the fingers means ‘fun’. Moving 2 fingers side to side on top of the palm of the other hand as a stage represents ‘dancing’ and lastly making ‘V’ sign means ‘peace’. It was such a meaningful song with the pandemic and including those who can’t hear to be able to have fun. BTS are so incredible

Love your invested reactions! But I truly hope you won’t sell yourself short by moving on from BTS before sampling more than just their English songs. Their upbeat, pop-y pandemic songs, while fun and enjoyable, are only the smallest facet of the diamond that is BTS! If you’re looking for a more alternative sound, try listening to DPR Ian’s songs. He’s a great artist, a very visual one. He directed and edited most of his own music videos and they are masterpieces. Because he’s so visually inclined, that tendency is channeled to his music and the visual and the music works together seamlessly in his videos. His albums and videos also has their own lore and it’s such a fun dive into them. 10/10 I definitely recommend

"permission to dance" is not entirely representative of BTS, this title was designed to help people during confinement by giving them good vibes but this is not representative of their true style and their enormous musical wealth, I suggest you watch the MVs of Dope, Idol, Black Swan, Fire, Blood sweat and tears and On Kinetic manifesto, just to start discovering them!

I love Kpop. So let me give you some suggestions for groups and solo artists. Groups: TXT, Seventeen, Stray Kids, The Rose, Infinite, (G) Idle, New Jeans, Mamamoo, Day6, Epik High. Soloists: Taemin, Taeyeon, Hwasa, Baekhyun, Kai, Moonbyul, CL, Younha, Lee Sora, Taeyang. These are just a sample of the music I listen to.

You really don’t yet have an idea of BTS true sound or range. These songs are not typical for them.

Stray kids next! Also, bts is kpop, they just hold many records and are also the most famous group in the world. They have done what no korean artist has done before.

BTS is a very good indroduction to K-pop...if u want to check some different vibes i suggest AKMU (its Brother-sister duo HUGE in Korea). Jakcson Wang (former member of Got7) has incrediblle MVs. Bravo. You Have done excellent on your BTS homework. I read the comments, and I don't think many heard you. You're ready to hear another group besides BTS. So, I have an idea for you that might save you time. Find Roscoe, the reactor, and subscribe. He is one of my fav, and very good. He has been 100% BTS. But now that BTS are in the military he has been brave among BTS reactors to be curious and explore the other Kpop groups. You might go to his video list, and sample through his list. You could listen for a few minutes to each song to hear if it matches your vibe. Then react to that. He has found many groups and songs he loves, however forever dedicated to BTS. He still does keep current with BTS. V just dropped "Friends". There is an official all English MV. But the song is so very good! I think you will love it. It might be your vibe!!
