My grandpa wanted to fight in WW2, but his hernia kept him out. He was heart broken to not be part of the war effort. Most of my grandparents HS graduating class died in the war.

My dad grew up in deep rural poverty and used the army to get out and served in Japan during the Korean War.

The first two Captain America movies are among my favorites of the MCU series. I didn't like them as much at the start, as they lacked the humor and spectacle of the others, but for me they have aged well and remained engaging. I think it's probably the sacrifices he makes, and the stands he takes for principle that I appreciate most, and that's the secret of the enduring value.

Hey, Courtney! Chronologically, this is the first MCU film set from 1942-1945 excepting the two framing scenes set in 2011. I feel it's an overlooked gem that establishes so many future films and introduces the moral center of the Marvel Universe.

As a long time comic book fan, when this came out, I was worried. It's still one of my favourite MCU movies. It's all about tone with Cap's stories, and this one hits just right. Hope you enjoy. Your reactions are always great; you're always a keen observer.

Joe Johnston also directed some other fun movies like Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Rocketeer and Jumanji.

I'm glad you enjoyed Captain America. I feel it was very well done for an origin story and a period piece for the character. Believe it or not Chris Evans reportedly turned down the offer to portray the character not once but twice. Evans was afraid he might be type-cast if he played the character, but his friend convinced him not to let fear influence his decision whether he chose to play the character or not.

My granddad was only 16 when the war started, but he was already working as a farmhand, and agricultural workers were reserved occupations, so he couldn't go. So, he joined the Home Guard instead. If you've ever seen the TV show 'Dad's Army'' he was a real life Pike (AKA the baby), though he liked to think of himself as more of a Walker (AKA the hustler).

Steve is leading this group known as The Howling Commandos. In marvel comic back in the 60s this group was led by the original Nick Fury.

Once again, Marvel knocks it out of the park with their casting choices. Chris Evans is perfect as Steve Rogers, and the rest of the cast are great too.

Peggy wasn’t supposed to quickly touch Steve on the chest but she improvised lol😅

Neal McDonough plays Dum Dum Dugan. I think he would’ve made for a great Captain America if this movie was made in the mid 90s.

This film surprised me at how good it was; as rccraig says, it's one of the better done origin stories. I did enjoy The Avengers, but the second Cap movie, "Winter Soldier", is my favourite out of all the MCU movies, though for me the series concludes with Endgame, after that the writing went downhill too much, in all sorts of ways.

Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes are an integral part of Marvel Comics, especially for origin story purposes, like Peter Parker and Stacey Gwen or Bruce Banner and Rick Jones.
