@@finnmccool2851 Neo's room number is 101 (the one) and Trinity works out of room #303. hackers/cryptographers in the Matrix are poetic people who enjoy the symbolism. The whole series is full of stuff like this. The cookie was probably some code injected by the Oracle to advance the program inherent to the one (unknowing state --> sacrifice state perhaps :D). HTML/browser cookies are used to identify individuals accessing a website and were invented in 1994. They could have gotten the idea from there, I guess. In the second film, we see another offer of candy from the oracle, probably another program input, that Neo rejects I believe.

I am reminded from seeing it again how brilliant the writing and acting of that Oracle scene is and how it plays on psychology. She never told him he wasn't, and she never lied to him. She just let him guess at the answer, and then made him feel satisfied and confident in his answer, even though she never explicitly confirmed or denied it. And the interesting thing is how it not only misleads him, it also usually misleads anyone watching the movie the first time.

@-Knife- = Depends how far back you want to go, "Simulacron-3" (1964) > and then "World on a Wire"(1973), or more recent "13th Floor" (1999). Then you have books such as "Neuromancer" (1984), "Simulacra and Simulation" (1981), Snow Crash (2000). Or older one such as Heinlein "They" (1941). Not exacly pure simulation that one, but close enough. So those concepts have been known for a while, it is just Matrix put them together much better, into one good movie. And of course there is even more recent research from quantum physics, and also neuroscience research into consciousness and reality as such, which is way more interesting, and scary at the same time.

Keanu started training Martial Arts for these movies and fell in love with it. He's a really driven guy. There was a kiddy pool on set for the second two movies filled with ice so he could take ice baths after training, which he would do three or four times a day on non shoot days. Plus, everything they say about him being a good dude is true. The reason he's in John Wick is his stunt double, and three of the stunt men who doubled the agents, approached him with the John Wick script. He read the script and loved it. How many actors would read a script from their stunt double, and trust that stunt double to direct that movie? A rare kind of person. Oh, and the one time I saw him really excited was when he was discussing a book he'd just read on string theory. The reason he's kind of odd and reserved is he's brilliant. One of those guys who's too smart to interact comfortably with everyone else. Keanu is a player character.

The part aboard the Nebuchadnezzar was supposed to be made by a (undisclosed) male actor. Hence the name of the character But producers thoutgh that it would be "too confusing" for the audience in 1999. I feel like the thing people always forget by the time we get to the end of the movie is that Neo is a hacker. The matrix is all just code. it is a computer simulated world written in code. Morpheus says some rules we can bend, others we can break. But Neo is both the One, as well as a hacker. So not only can he see the code of the Matrix, he can choose to rewrite it as he sees fit.

Great reaction Coby like always, It's hard to tell you how important this movie was, just in a general sense. It was the dawn of the internet as we know it now (2024), but the story drew on ideas that have been around since the golden age of science fiction. It is inevitable. And that's just the story. The Wachoskis invented a whole new way of filming, embraced the meta, and really just revolutionized movie storytelling. It's so good when today Morpheus says "we gave birth to AI" and all the reactions to that... because when I watched it in 1999, it was a futuristic prediction not reality. Keep up the good work.

One thing that is often overlooked, they hint that both Trinity and Morpheus were hackers. In the begining, neo was "hacking", and in the scene where the agents questioned him "you are guilty of every internet crime we have a law for". At the end, when he sees everything in green, he was seeing and understanding the "code". When he jumps into the agent and destroys him from the inside, that signified him "hacking" the a.i. and destroying the code of agent smith.

Coby, you had a preconcieved notion that Joe Pantoliano would double-cross Neo because "he always plays those types of characters." When this film came out, that wasn't always the case. Watching this in the theaters was one of the greatest movie experiences ever and I've seen everything from the original Star Wars first release to Lord Of The Rings and all the Rocky movies on first release in movie theaters. People have no idea how amazing it was to go into these movies with no knowledge other than a trailer and just be blown away. There wasn't the internet and social media there to spoil everything before the movie even came out. The only trailer for The Matrix just said "What is The Matrix?" with very little actual showing of what to expect. I can still hear in my head the cheering and "ooohhh!!" when Smith charges Neo at the end and Neo is just blocking everything with ease and turns to the side blocking all his punches with one are. I'll never forget that experience. It will always be one of my favorite movies. If they would've nailed 2 & 3 it would easily be in the convo for best trilogy. But they didn't so 🤷🏾‍♂️. I kind of saw it coming tho. Two things at the end of The Matrix that made me go "oh no". The whole "love" being able to being him back and Neo flying. I hated both as it played out for the remainder of the series, I was right about both.

You brought up an interesting point in the movie about Cipher's intentions beyond just handing over Morpheus to the Agents. I suppose Cipher was committed to a particular course of action when he agreed to help the Agents. Mainly not leaving anyone else alive after betraying Morpheus and the team. I presume Cipher had keep the rest of the team and the operators from disconnecting Morpheus from the Matrix before the Agents had a chance to extract any Info from Morpheus's mind. Once Cipher confirmed the agents have the needed info he could just sit back and chill while the machines infiltrate/attack and or destroy Zion and fly the hovercraft to a pre-arranged (assuming he could operate/fly the ship himself) location where the machines take him to a reserved pod and hook him back into the Matrix. With Zion destroyed and his crew dead there would be virtually no one left alive to question his actions or to discover that he was solely responsible for the death of his team and the destruction of Zion. This all supposition on my part but a possible scenario had Cipher managed to succeed and a terrible ending to the movie.

It's refreshing to hear someone note the importance of casting Keanu Reeves in the right role (he's no Gary Oldman). One of my life's small regrets: I *passed* on seeing The Matrix when it was in the theaters, and I've never seen it on the big screen. But in 1999, I'd made up my mind: "No more f'g Keanu Reeves movies!" I'd seen his weak performance in My Own Private Idaho (outshone by River Phoenix, RIP)... I'd been appalled at his totally-$HIT English accent in Coppola's Dracula, annoyed that he was ever cast in the role ("Aren't there any *British* actors Coppola could've cast?" I wondered)... And I'd been dragged by college friends to Johnny Mnemonic -- a mess of a film, letting down the source material (Gibson) -- "One for Johnny Moronic," I said, purchasing my ticket. Walking out of the film, it occurred to me, "We've worked out Keanu's range, and that range is... Ted! Because he IS Ted!" (Bogus, dude! That said, he was OK in Parenthood, but obviously *acting.* I'm also one of the few people who thought Speed was just a little too dumb to enjoy -- nowhere near as plausible or fun as Die Hard or Lethal Weapon, and Keanu's just... boring. But then again, in that movie, even Dennis Hopper was boring!) Anyways, that's how I missed the best Keanu Reeves movie ever: THE MATRIX! Keanu is *perfect* as Neo in this brilliant film. Today, a quarter-century after The Matrix, I admit Keanu is very good in the right role and a very disciplined actor. (But no more accents, Keanu. Please.)

The sequels are Def some decent eye candy but I have just always considered the first one a near perfect film for what it sets out to do. All of the revolutionary slow-mo "shots" (CGI/ slowed framerate) are still amazing to look at. The timing/ editing of the climax as Neo discovers his true potential and Morpheus throwing the switches for the EMP to knock out the sentinels is superb. And that last scene where Neo breaks the fourth wall by looking at us, then looks up, the camera quickcuts out and up, and Neo just flies into the sky, roll credits. Absolutely stunning for 1999. I do enjoy the 2nd and 3rd overall with continuation/ conclusion of the story, I just feel they lacked the essence of the 1st.

Alice, welcome to Wonderland. You have taken the red pill, embarking on a journey to explore a very deep and somewhat complicated mythology that spans three additional films beyond this first one. Great reaction. Great evolving understanding of what has been presented to you. Looking forward to seeing your experiences with the Matrix.

Hey Coby. Loved the reaction, as you seem to possess the traits of all good reactors, that being genuine and just vocalizing the questions or theories that movies generate in all of us. The "bad" reactors tend to think they have to talk constantly for talking sake which seems forced or fake. We respond to authenticity, even if that is in the form silence due to you being engrossed in the film or scene. If I could give you a little constructive criticism though... not a great idea to put the "if this video hits a certain view number" challenge out there. It makes you appear to be desperate for views (whether you are or not) and it is also not a great way to decide future content. Chasing clicks always leads to bad things, especially asking for 100k views when you have 30k combined subs. I am not dissing your sub count (it is great), just saying that is not a very realistic view count goal for a solid response to a reaction video. You are much better off doing suggested movies and/or ones you are interested in, since that circles back to authenticity, and then let the view chips fall where they may. I most likely don't have to tell you that KZfaq is weird and many times movies you expect to pop don't and ones you have low expectations flourish. This comes from a seasoned viewer of content but not a creator so take it as you may; it also come from a genuine wish to help you grow your channel.

This is by far the most intelligent reaction to this movie. I am totally in love with this lady's mind.

God I have to say, I LOVED this reaction video. You are so good with your commentary. I normally get so annoyed with girls talking and saying this or that but you were like right on point. You’re so descriptive, I don’t know if you’re an actress or performer but you were so good in this. You didn’t see things coming, you perfectly saw other things coming. I 100% loved this reaction. I kept saying “so good” watching. Thank you for this 💯

"Copper-top" is the nickname used in US commercials for Duracell Batteries. In the film, it's a slur to describe people who unconsciously inhabit the Matrix, since (according to the freed humans' beliefs) the Machines use them like batteries-sources of power.
