In fairness to the list that had Bran 14th, I think they may have only considered who were the "main characters" and then put Bran last.

The wrap's list is low key genius. Hodor's placement had me rolling. Then there was Qyburn on 5 and Grey worm on 2.

Ned Stark may have only been in 1 season, like you said, but he had a lot of screen time. More so than characters like Robb Stark despite being in more seasons.

That 2nd list caused my brain to completely erode 💀

I honestly feel that the less they were in game of thrones the better the characters were. Oberyn, Bobby B, Robb, Ned, Tywin, Joff all had the advantage of not being dragged down by dogshit writing. Essentially if you made it out before season 4 they got away pretty unscathed. Comparatively characters like Jon, Tyrion, Arya were on the same level of great (if not higher) but then season 7 and 8 happened. Jaime Lannister has one of the best arcs and should therefore be an easy top 5 (at the very least top 10) slot. But if you consider the whole scope of the show, he plummets hard due to the 4th and 5th episodes of season 8. Think it's hard to make a list just based off of how no one really escaped the deconstruction of D&D. Also where is my boy Pod on these lists?

I don't like it when people dislike Sansa only beacause of her "passivity" in the early seasons. She's in a very bad situation and does the best she can do to survive, plus she also tries to help here and there when she's given the possibility like saving Ser Dontos for example by kind of outsmarting Joffrey.

Not gonna lie I would put Theon in at least top 3. Sure his arc takes longer than it should but Theon himself is probably the most complex character in the show and I find his story to be the most "real" if that makes sense. Also Theon was one of the characters who didn't suffered as much from horrible writing and he actually got a satysfying ending

these lists are something else. Putting Jaime, Tywin, The Hound and Ramsey in terrible spots isn't good. They are some of best GOT characters easily.

bran technically is not a full character he is supposed to reach a climax in his story in the long night, but unfortunately we did not get that. but in reality -thanks to d&d- yes bran sucks.

The real tragedy with Brenner, I feel, is that her best stuff is all internal monologue, because she’s so shy and insecure. That’s hard to translate onscreen, in the style of the show at least.

Favourite characters aren't necessarily the best written though and the more likeable ones get up there too. Like Davos, Jorah, Sam...

I became a fan of the shown right when season 6 had just ended and had caught up in time for the season 7 premiere. I specifically remember wondering why people both online and in person kept referring to Daenerys as Khaleesi that late in the story 😅

A lot of these lists are basically just the characters that were in season 8.

How are Sansa and Bran higher than Theon?

Any good top 10 would have to mostly consist of characters that *weren't* ruined by the later seasons.

I honestly think the reason Tyrion is loved is because of Peter Dinklage I mean in the books Tyrion gives you no real reason to love him but the way Dinklage portrayed allowed us to love him and understand him and his motives. Also I believe most audience members don't appreciate a good villain because they are a villain simple as that, especially the more mainstream movies. I mean James Gandolfini got a decades worth of people to love a vile man in Tony Soprano and I can't really think of a pure villain people love. For example, I love Doc Oct from the Rami Spidermen movies, and not because of the actor but his motivations and corruptions seemed so mortal that it could happen.

Stannis, Tywin, Jaime , Cersei, Tyrion, Littlefinger, Olenna, Oberyn, Joffrey , Robert, Ned , Robb, Catlyn , Roose , Ser Alliser are the characters i enjoyed on screen the most. Largely due to actors playing them (only counting seasons 1-4 btw)

Olenna isn’t Margaerys mother. Its her grandmother. And Margaery also did alot of work on Joffrey to tame some of his craziness. She should’ve been Top 15 and Olenna should’ve been too 5 along with Tywin. Daenerys would’ve been Number 2 as well she was a much more compelling character than Jons one noteness! And season 1-4 Tyrion would be 1 but anything after that is a NO!

I think that once (if) the books get finished, Ned will be a lot of people's favorite characters. One thing that the show lost with the R+L=J reveal was the lengths he went to protecting Jon

I loved bran in the first seasons. His whole story felt like lord of the rings a little bit. But it just got soooo much worse

My top 3 are Tywin, Sandor, and Catelyn. Charles Dance's performance is one of the best in television history. He acted the hell out of that character, I completely share your love for him. The Hound is such a fun character, so complex and badass. And Catelyn, I just love her, her fierceness and determination, her willingness to admit her flaws, her undying love for her children and husband. One of my favorite scenes is when Cat throws her hands on the assassin's blade to protect Bran - I think about that scene when I need to motivate myself through pain. And when she cuts the throat of Frey's wife after Rob is murdered - holy shit man, it doesn't get much better than that! The raw emotion!

i personally didn´t like arya, sansa or bran very much..... don´t get me wrong their arcs and their plot had very much potential to be entertaining, but the way it played out, not so much. arya could´ve been very interesting with those faceless men but she got way too much plotarmor and then had her invincible killing spree and then plotarmor again in kings landing. sansa didn´t do anything proactive except trust littlefinger and undermine jon´s effort to fight the boltons. bran you already covered: did nothing.... hodor was more interesting than bran those 3 wouldn´t even come close to a top 30 list in my opinion

The thing about Bran's story is that except for one conversation with Meera, no one really brings up how f'd up his story is. He's this nice kid who likes to climb and dreams of being a knight. He gets pushed out a window and is paralyzed. Then every adult and near adult in his family leaves him alone with his little brother and some servants. They get invaded and he's forced to make adult level command decisions. Then he goes on a several year journey through hostile territory to meet a weird magical tree guy who overwrites his brain with the Encyclopedia Westerosica. Add in that in the books there's pretty good chance he ate his friend. HIs whole family is like, "He's a little weird now." Sure, it's been no picnic for them, but they're looking at a completely different person in their little brother's body and just accept it.

Top 5: Varys, Tyrion, Littlefinger, Olenna, Tywin. Top 10 include: Bobby B, Cersei, Jaime, Oberyn and the Hound.
