Maria is Hwasa's baptismal name and the song is about how Hwasa received a lot of criticism so Maria is like Hwasa responding to herself.

IU's song is obviously about fans who don't respect boundaries, people who are innapropiate with her or stalkish, media who spreads lies, rumors, and judgemental narratives about her personal life/friends/telling her who she should hang out with or how should she behave... It's sassy and musically more simple than many of her songs, but it's a serious topic. "Respect my boundaries, you don't know me in person, and I am human. Stop it. Don't cross the line."

Hwasa faced a lot of criticism because of her tanned skin and body figure coz it basically doesn't fit the typical "Korean beauty standards". She is one of the most hated kpop idols but she's talented af. She said " if this generation's beauty standards don't fit me, then I'll set my own standards"

Fun fact: IU even acts and one of her characters "Jang man wol" from Hotel Del Luna is like a legend in kdramas. She is so versatile that some don't know she's a singer and fall in love with her acting and others first singing then acting. I recommend checking out her acting clips.

IU is her stage name. Her real name is jieun. Debuted in 2008. She's the idol of many idols and ideal type of so many more. She's also been through a lot like I can't even start describing. Mental abuse, physical abuse, conning, fat shamed.....Her voice is a gem. It can't be found anywhere else.

Thank you so much for reacting to Pentagon! They're extremely underrated, dare I say criminally underrated. If you guys are interested in more of their stuff, they have a very diverse discography! Shine is one of their more popular songs and one of their more happy/goofy tracks. A couple more in the same kind of happy/goofy vibe would be songs like "Naughty Boy", "Humph!", and their most recent track "Do or Not". They also have a few darker themed tracks like "Dr. Bebe" and "Basquiat". I'd also recommend some of their more "sad boi bops" (only way I can think to describe these types of songs) like "Runaway", "Like This", and "Daisy".
