Miyako, who composes a lot of their music, is a professional concert-level classical pianist, and was originally on track to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and we now see the result. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude. All five members of the band are Jedi-level musicians, but I think Miyako is a once-in-a generation talent, a true savant. This song shows just how insane these 2 guitarist, who both came from a piano background and took up the guitar late (Miyako was 18 and Midori was 20) truly are. They are harmonizing in perfect flawless unity but are tapping, sweeping and sweet picking together....that is just nuts! Midori gave up the piano/organ to learn the guitar but Miyako kept up and is classically trained since age 3, want more of her insane piano try Swan Song (H.
