I would say and with all the confidence in the world, Automatic is my fave K-pop song… I love the smooth 90’s vocals… for velvet I would recommend listening to their velvet album (The perfect Velvet Bad boy is the repackage so it added extra songs to the album)… the Irene and Seulgi sub unit is AMAZING as well, it’s mostly velvet since it fits Irene’s husky voice and Seulgi’s versatility when it comes to her range.

Their title tracks are mostly experimental I'd say in terms of sound. If you start digging into their bsides you will be so much captivated. They are known as bside queens. So much of their bside can actually pass as title track. And of course, vocals are well served. They eat CDs for dinner. 😁

Also, the Bad Boy music video has very gay undertones. If you notice there isn't any men in the video. Even the mannequins are female. The book has French on the cover that translate to "This is not a lip". Basically it means that even thought the image on the book looks like lips, it can also be anything really. And how the lips are turned sideway refers to the female body part. And if you notice at the end Yeri and Seulgi are wearing shirts with meow and cherry, both words used in urban slang to refer to parts of the female body.

I feel like -visually/aesthetically- this was Wendy's era. She gave you 50's/60's inspired looks with a 70's twist on it. That club scene specifically with the red lighting and smokey eye highlighted her beauty. It was with this comeback that I saw her versatility and fell in love (at that point her voice already drew me to her so it was pretty easy lol, I def think her vocals fit best with rnb/jazz pieces especially stuff that follow alt pop ballads -stuff from the 90's early 00's comes to mind. *edit you know what, I'm gonna talk about it because I feel like she's hardly complimented for it: she not only has clean lines and transitions but she's naturally sharp and emphatic with her movement, anytime I look I always notice that they put her on the sidlines with yeri for dance sections when she's honestly better than joy and yeri (from a technical and performative perspective). She knows how to get facials down to, and I feel like a lot of her understanding of dance and movement is linked back to the human voice and how she effortlessly explores it. I know that I experience most things as movement, mainly due to my dance background but also the way I learn information.

ANY red Velvet song can possibly have weird/supernatural/horror aspects to it; it is a particular hallmark of RV to include those themes in otherwise "light" and peppy sounding songs.
