Basically Bellinghams last minute overhead kick just saved Southgate his job and didn't mean anything else. Rather lose to Slovakia than lose another final, shambolic. I'm a Liverpool fan, i've seen finals being lost, but I've seen Klopp saying 'We will come back stronger' and getting to the next final and winning it. Seeing Southgate manage England in comparison is like watching a championship team with the worlds best players who are fighting a relegation battle, with there drop back tactics and somehow making 2nd place all the time, it's embarassing. I rather see good football and losses instead of dry football and wins, then losing a final.

As a German I get so hard flashbacks to Löws era. I never thought it wasnt a worldcup title despite him. Players were too strong and the bayern squad carried by guardiolas tactic. 2016 we should have won the Euros, we had the best squad by far. We had to get humilinated by small countries over and over again to get rid of Löw and his reincarnation at national side Flick… So one worldcup title or in southgates case 2 euro finals, u can actually accomplish that without proper coaching. Kane won the golden boot in both the Premier League and the Bundesliga. Scored the most goals in history for both Spurs and England. Has a huge amount of assists under his belt as well. It’s not about player performances, it’s about instructions and discipline. If you aren’t performing well enough, you should get benched. If the system you set doesn’t fit your players, either don’t play them or change it. It’s not an accident all of them perform much better outside of the England team. Maybe Kane shouldn’t play on the national team again but only because it’s under Southgate. This fraud made the world question one of the most prolific strikers in the world. Open your eyes.

I really don't get how people r saying that Foden is the problem. The guy is constantly showing up and asking for a pass, but nobody tries to get the ball to him. In the beginning, he was played out of position, then when he got moved into his preferred position, Kane was dropping into his spaces, but instead of making little 1/2s with Foden, Kane kept trying to make a switch to the other side. Also, when Foden got the ball in those shooting ranges, where he is deadly, he didn't have the spaces to shoot cuz Kane didn't push the backline deep.

Wingers Yamal and Williams were the difference. Southgate could play Saka and Gordon but refuses to be too offensive. Both players are more than capable to track back when out of possession but Southgate persists with his 2 holding midfielders. Mainoo got schooled today. I’d be starting Watkins with Palmer alongside. Wharton unlucky not to get any time.

It's not picking the wrong players, it's picking the wrong players for the wrong system. Kane is a brilliant player when you have fast wingers all around him feeding balls into the box. If he gets chances he will score, even if he is not fully fit. But England are not doing that, they just sit back and play anti-football and hope for a moment of magic. With the players we have, we could beat anyone in the world, but we need to be brave and play attacking football (like they do for their clubs). We played well for 10 mins after we went 1:0 down, until we equalised, then we sat back again and lost it, desrervedly so.

English here, the whole tournament was fun to watch don’t get me wrong but I knew we were losing against Spain. I agree with Mark. World class players should be winning tournaments. Southgate just doesn’t know how to win them. You could literally put ten hag in and he’d probably win it. I do feel like the players had no confidence today and even after palmers goal I still thought we’d lose. Overall it’s just a bit depressing. If Southgate stays the same thing will happen in the WC. Happy for Spain they played brilliant and fully deserved it. England have to do better thought. Sacking Southgate would be a great start

Honestly, I have to agree with Mark. England are incredibly lucky to be in the final, but sadly, england 🏴 were tactically masterclassed by Spain and we got good talent on the bench but was never used. It is honestly the same people used over and over and over again and playing in the positions that they do not preferred. E.g. Foden as a winger?? Yes, the subs did make an impact over the course of the tournament however England just need to find a system that works for them. If they can find a system that works, they can win more games and more tournaments.

I agree but also the fact that England started every game with 90%-100% the SAME players every game was incredibly infuriating. You can't find a system that works if you don't try anything different. Can't be sure why, is it the English FA or the manager himself, but it seems England has a huge problem with the "STAR POWER" of players, e.g. why did we bring Toney, Watkins, Eze, Gordon, Bowen, etc. who have been great for their clubs, but have played less than a quarter of a match in the 7 games England had.

One thing you miss out is that Germany won't sack Nagelsmann just because they don't win the tournament. They don't sack him because they were actually playing good football on the pitch and there's ground for them to win something in the tournament. For Southgate however, look at how they get to the Final. Scrappy wins against poor sides. They sitback even when they face an easy opponent. Southgate doesn't deserve to even breathe in the oxygen in the final. He is a fraud.

I think it’s time to put Kane on the bench. As much as I love him he can’t keep up with today’s players. He could make a bigger impact coming off the bench. Although he does have a tendency to not show up when needed so maybe not as a last minute we need a goal sub.

mate, there were so many times that a ball was crossed into the box by Saka, Foden, Bellingham, Mainoo, while Kane was chillin in the midfield instead of where a No. 9 should be. You can't say he had zero service. However, Southgate defo had a horrible system that didn't get the best from the players.
