When So Hyang's father-in-law was asked in a TV interview why he gave her and his son permission to get married at the tender of twenty, which is pretty young for the patriarchal Korean society, he said what won him over was her sincerity. I think that is what we somehow detect in So Hyang. She, by all appearances, really means what she says when she sings, and chooses songs that actually have true value to them. Things about God and His ways are very important to real believers and So Hyang seems to be blessed by God with communicative skills that transcend the medium we receive them on. When I watch a video of So Hyang performing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" I have no doubts that this is exactly how she feels about the song and about God, too. I can't really say any other singer does that for me. Other reviewers have also found it startling that the emotions So Hyang puts into her singing comes across so vividly, even on a computer! I think that is what we detect from a So Hyang performance Steph--her sincerity and genuiness. (You have a similar sincerity on screen Steph.) I know her songs really help me along with my days, especially the hard ones. And I think that is why God gave us music to begin with, don't you? Moreover, So Hyang _does_ know that her voice makes people cry! She was a little perturbed and surprised when she discovered this, but now accepts the fact of the matter and tries to be an inspiration and comfort for people as much as she can at a concert. She is everything I look for in a singer, performer, human being, and believer. She is a Proverbs 31 type of woman. I am so glad God showed her to me. 💖

She realized perfection wasn't the most important thing and that the feeling of the song was the most important. To bring peace to us. Hi Steph, I have watched all your reactions to Sohyang. I'm Catholic too and I feel the same as you. Even when she doesn't sing about God you still feel something heavenly. Probably that amazing voice and her passion. I have never seen anyone give so much of herself to a performance. You need to see her performances in king of mask singer. Everyone is great.
