To answer your question: yes, the woman in Destiny's Child that you recognized but couldn't remember her name, that was Kelly Rowland. She did the song Dilemma with Nelly. The other members of Destiny's Child (besides Beyoncé and Kelly) were changing over time because of some drama. In the end it was Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

It’s funny that many of the songs that you said “this is an absolute banger” has the backbeat sampled from a song from the 70’s-90’s. It’s an interesting evolution in that in the 1990’s, if you sampled another song, you were considered a thief or incompetent hack, some even threatened violence. Then it came around to “how can creative can we get with remixing this…?”

Mariah's 2005 song, We Belong Together, was named the Song of the Decade by Billboard. The song was at #1 for 14 weeks and it even blocked Mariah's next single, Shake It Off, from hitting #1 as it was held back by We Belong Together which stayed at #1 while Shake It Off was at #2 in the same week. That was legendary. In 2005 Mariah also became the first female to replace herself from #1 on the US digital charts when All I want for Christmas and Don't Forget About us were both #1 and #2 and then switched positions. What a year for Mariah. Notable omission from 2008, Mariah's Touch my Body was at #1 in April of that year.

I remember most of these songs, as I was still listening to US top 50 radio stations. It seems these lists are based from the US. I wonder what a UK version would look like. There's groups and solo artists that are popular there and most of Europe, but never had a presence in North America. In the 90's, East 17 and Take That fir example came out at the wrong time, as boy bands were not doing well in the US before 1996. Take That is a one hit wonder here, while East 17 never got a US contract. In the 2000's, Anastacia was unable to make it in North America, as I later learned that Clear Channel Radio (now known as iHeart Radio) owned so many Radio stations around the US, that they refused to play her music, that most of us have never heard her. The few Radio stations that did play her music, were much smaller Radio station operators in smaller markets, that even gave her a chance. After no success with her first 2 albums, Sony Music decided not to release her 3rd album in North America, and focus on the countries where she's successful. So I know she would appear on the 2000's UK list.

The 2000's is when the downfall of music started. Everything started to sound the same in this decade and it continued that way up until 2018 or so. Every producer started to use the same software and every song no matter the genre has those damn claps in the beat. In the 2000's music began losing personality and feeling, it started to feel less real, more like an imitation of something real. I guess I could say music lost its soul in the 2000's

Not really. The video is not accurate. I've noticed the same thing in the videos for decades. Whoever put these video obviously has their favorites, and Madonna is one of them. She only had one #1 song on the Hot 100 chart in the 2000s, and that was Music. The other songs by her this video claims were the most popular for the month were not even close. For example it claims Me against the Music was the most popular song for November 2003 even thought Baby Boy by Sean Paul was #1 for the entire month. Me Against The Music's highest position on the Hot 100 was #35. Hardly what I would call the most popular song.

@@fwdsx Yeah, I wish they explained video explained the criteria they used to determine each song. If they're using the whole world then I have no issue with Hung Up, or 4 minutes. I would still take issue with Me Against The Music. It was only #1 in Australia and Spain, and also on the dance chart. In contrast, during that same month, Ignition by R. Kelly hit #1 in the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and on the R&B chart. It was also #2 on the Hot 100. And neither of those songs were more popular for the month than In Da Club by 50 Cent. It hit #1 in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland. It got to #3 in the UK. Looking at it objectively, both In Da Club and Ignition were more popular than Me Against The Music in May 2003. That's just one example. I've found others that don't make since even if they're going by worldwide popularity. I'm not picking on Madonna. I like her and have most of her albums. This just didn't make sense to me.

@@ronnix23 this song is actually from Britney's album, appearing or not I don't think it would make any difference to Madonna, for someone who started in 82 having Hung Up in 2005 and 4 Minutes in 2008 is great

I had no idea so many hits of the 2000s were just ripping off much better classic songs (I mean "sampling" the best parts of the song). Have we run out of creativity?

I used to get upset when older people complained about young people, but you have turned me into one of those older people watching your videos. The disrespect to the 90s and early 2000s music...🤦🏽‍♂️😂

2008 seems to be the year when I stopped caring for most music. It’s like, at this point I still know it, but I don’t really like it, because it doesn’t make me feel anything.

2005/2006 is when American music lost me. Completely. And I went for more Europop music.

I've watched your reactions to these from the 60s on up (I know, out of production order) and what I've learned is that the most popular music is usually trash and that's probably always been true.

Looks like everything went to dancehall stuff. You could just about use the same beat for every one of these tracks. Bleh. Good to see someone enjoying the nostalgia, though.
