Spent 3 hours waiting at the retina specialist. No shot in the eyeball today Woo Hoo!!!! Yes, the improved animatronics are amazing. The theming & foliage was beautiful. I just don’t understand the reasoning for that one huge drop. It’s not geologically found in New Orleans or Louisiana. This ride will be a one & done for me.

I have heard some complaints, but complaints won't bring Splash Mountain back. I love the animatronics and the screens they put in to give more depth to the ride. I heard some people want a villain, did Dr. Facilier survive? I don't remember I'll have to watch the movie again.

Alright Marr. I went back and watched it again. So, the whole story is Tiana looking for entertainment for her restaurant. At one point Mama Odie uses magic to shrink you and then she has to make you big again. When you are going up the lift hill is where she is making you big again. She says we need to get to that party fast. It's not a physical drop, it is Mama Odie using magic to speed your log up and get you to the party.

@@AddyFamilyAdventures well peter pan has returned to replace pirates they have updated the fountains and lighting package more fireworks a different dragon scene entirely due to the fire

People are always going to compare this to Splash Mountain. And people are going to try to poke holes in the Tiana story because of the holes poked in Splash. If they would have left out the social/political reasoning and merely said, hey we need to reskin this ride because it's old and unmanageable anymore, they could have left pandoras box shut and curbed a HUGE social/political debate. Also, I think they tried to put a square box into a round hole. They were forced to utilize the bones of a structure that doesn't fit the new ride thesis - A mountain in a bayou. A track design beckoning for thrill and tension but now without either. Too many dark, boring spots as well as too many screens due to lack of creative content. Would have made better sense to give Tiana her own new designed ride structure - a fun dark, kids ride in Fantasyland, New Orleans Square or Critter Country.

I respect your opinion and I disagree. I think if this would have been a new ride on its own instead of a retheme, no one would complain. If you want to see an awful retheme go checkout Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, a retheme of Rock N Roller Coaster in Disney Studios Paris.

@@AddyFamilyAdventures I just rode that one a few weeks ago actually. It’s as bad as people say it is. Unfortunately, by virtue of the fact that they built this on the bones of Splash Mountain, all criticism aimed at Bayou is well-deserved on Disney’s end. If they’d wanted to, they could’ve built her a better attraction from the ground up, but they didn’t and here we are, I’m afraid.

@@AddyFamilyAdventures One hundred percent. I consider the re-skin an insult to her growing popularity. There was a way that everyone could win, but Disney opted for the cheapest route, and they’re paying the price for it with the backlash.

So you believe the backlash is because of the treatment of Tiana and not doing away with a loved attraction, Splash Mountain. This Thursday at 6:30pm est. We are doing a live stream called Disney Updates. On this stream I'm discussing and defending my opinion that Tiana's Bayou Adventure is a good retheme. We would love to have you in the chat.

Ok, Virtual Queues seem to be the thing Disney is doing with new rides. It doesn't mean the VQ is there forever, just until numbers for interest in the ride goes down. I would say once this opens to the public on the 28th, they will look to remove the VQ for Tron Lightcycle/ Run.

@AddyFamilyAdventures it's not a new ride...it's a retheme and people love doing over and over.... Who want to be in a Queue to be tossed out of or rejected because of a breakdown

Well, that happened with Rise of the Resistance. It was a VQ and some people didn't get to ride because of breakdowns and it was a new ride. They use the VQ, because so many people are going to want to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure and the wait times would be astronomical for a standby line. This keeps people in the park with waiting in line for one attraction all day.
