it is angelic this song makes me cry every single time!! Bulgarian choral music; it was banned by the roman catholic church until some cardinal heard it and it was too beautiful to ban.the song is a young girls prayer to God to give her wings so she can fly to find her true love

You have good taste in music! I am also from Britain (are your parents/grandparents from a West African country? Mine are from Nigeria), and I stumbled across Bulgarian vocal music while I was half asleep listening to the radio. I have the same reaction to Bulgarian traditional music, and I have listened to Neli Andreeva several times. I also love the Abagar Quartet. You're right: they have a real cultural treasure here. The songs are powerful and haunting. It is also nice watching them sing in the Bulgarian countryside, which is beautiful. Great video!

Hope you see this comment. As a Bulgarian, I really appreciate how you are able feel our music as a non-Bulgarian. Nothing but respect and admiration for you man! Here is a song that makes Bulgarians, especially us who are living abroad, tear up every time since it reminds us of our motherland. It is called "Ya kaji mi, oblache le bialo" performed by Ku-Ku Bend and sung by Neli Petkova. Link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gLahpLuBnbvaaZc.html Another amazing song is "Ah, Kade e Moyto Libe" performed by Desi Dobreva : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bsWpmZN81a_Mgqc.html

Just a quick note on your thumbnail, since you expressed an interest in learning Bulgarian. Красив is the masculine form of the word 'beautiful'. If you want to be more neutral and not specify what / who is beautiful, you might want to go for красиво, which is the neuter form. You can use that to say 'it is beautiful' or just 'beautiful', without any further context. Cheers, and thank you for appreciating our culture!
