Breathtaking

This was taped in 2012, the day after Sandy Hook where 26 children and teachers were murdered. It was terribly emotional for the audience, and for Alfie who has two childrem of his own. The song is about Valjean praying for the life of a boy loved by his adopted daughter. Have no idea how Alfie kept it together to sing this.

This concert took place over 3 days. He had to perform this song the night of Sandy Hook. I was in the audience that night and there was not a single dry eye in the house! Even he had tears that night. We took a moment of silence before this song, and then the music came in. I now own this concert on DVD, and every year I watch it around Christmas time and I am taken back to that night. It is powerful, and it moved everyone there that night. May those sweet children rest in peace. ❤️

The name of the production from which this comes is "Les Miserables," from a French novel by Victor Hugo. It means, roughly, "The Miserable [or Suffering] Ones."
