Your reaction to this performance, which I didn't know myself, really sums it all up. Your analysis is also spot on. Many thanks for that. A song in which Lara Fabian also uses high notes in a very fine and controlled way is the song "Le roi est une femme" (The king is a woman). It is one of my favorite songs of hers and was released on the album "Nue". In this song she sings about her family's homeland, Sicily. Behind the title is actually the volcano "Etna" in Sicily, which the locals address in the feminine form. The song is a yearning metaphor for home, origin and family. This longing also includes the people, their history and the memory of them, beautiful and melancholic at the same time. Unfortunately, there is no live performance for this song but it is beautiful and incredibly emotionally touching. (It may be a bit unusual for me to post my contribution here so late, but I enjoy looking at your reactions, sometimes more than once:)) (And a small tip: If you listen to the song, then best in surround stereo with increased volume (of course depending on taste) and with closed eyes. The song expresses true majesty - it is wonderful)
