That was good to watch you assemble this, would love a breakdown of you joystick x/y controller - that thing is very neat. Would like to see how you make things audio reactive, whether you are using waveforms or midi info.

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. Will Defs have to give a little breakdown of the xy comp next time I use it. I’m sure there will be audio reactive stuff happening in upcoming livestreams too, will be breaking that down in the future so stay tuned 🙏🏽

About blur 47:30 .. I actually prefer modulating sample step instead of filter size often. You can't use it to replace the other, but since it's not an integer, you get smoother audio reactivity and touch response 🏄🏄

I thought I tried that once and it gave a slightly different effect than the filter… Will have to revisit it, always a fan of getting more granular control

Hi Ben, I'm having issues similar to Tobiasz. Whenever the 2nd displacement is added, it is just a fuzzy mess. Are you using 32-bit float RGB/Mono/RGBA and if so are you using that on all the OPs or just the ramp? Just trying to get the flow to at least react similarly to yours, but it doesn't.

Hey Ben, awesome demo and effect! I am trying to recreate the Basic Reaction Diffusion patch, did exactly the whole network and the parameters that you showed, but somehow the feedback loop is not working, it is just showing the circular ramp moving, and changing the parameters on the other tops in the loop has no effect at all, could I have missed something?

Hmmm not sure. Maybe try changing the pixel mode? Sometimes it works better 16 bit or 8 bit float. If you’re not seeing things try cranking the last levels gamma and brightness to start the reaction

Have a question about the patch "noise_crossfade". What is in that patch? Wanna see some clues of it!

So its a crossfade that uses a noise instead of just overlaying the two images. Pretty simple just a noise driving a matte then animating the noise offset parameter to blend between the two inputs. I'll try to go over it in a future stream!

Hi Ben, you see to be using a noise_crossfade. Im a beginner and I just can't seem to find that anywhere on touchdesigner? could you tell me where to locate it ?

Hey! The noise_crossfade is a little component I made myself. It’s fairly simple, I’ll try go through it in a future stream, but it’s basically just feed the two textures you want to fade between into the first two inputs of a Matte TOP, then a noise into the third, and animate the noise offset slider to crossfade between the two images.

Ben small question, I asked on IG as well. I recreated that first build but my second displace (the one at the end) doesn't add those diagonal trails when ON, it's look more like mess. What can be wrong. I'm talking about 17:08 time stamp. I checked the amount of disp in several versions, but none of those seems to work well form me. Thanks for response

Hmmm I can’t diagnose exactly what the issue is, but check to make sure your colour space is set to 32-bit float, that might be the problem. If not I would just explore the principles behind the technique, get a feel for how the system responds to the different modifiers, rather than trying to recreate exactly.
