This dude needs to be cast as a Disney villain. The lady in the video is Malinda Kathleen Reese. Jonathan and MKR do a Phantom of the Opera cover you absolutely HAVE to check out. The priest TOTALLY wanted Esmerelda.

That was one great movie... Hellfire was one of the most accurate and dramatic songs Disney ever created.

@@DropZSpillingtheTea Well, two years late, but if you watched the movie, it was quite obvious. The entire song was all about Judge Frollo (who was a priest in the original book) feeling lust for Esmeralda (who was 16 in the book), Frollo knows it is wrong, which is why he tries to absolve himself, claiming that he isn't at fault for his desire, that it was Esmeralda who bewitched him, that it was her fault, and that she would burn in hell for being A.) A gypsy and B.) a witch who ensnares men with her feminine wiles. In his own sick way, he wanted to save her, to make her a virtuous woman by claiming her and since he is such a 'righteous man' she would be made, by proxy, a righteous woman. He prays, wondering why he could be tempted like that, it shakes his entire world-view and drives him insane. This is a man who believed he could do no wrong. Yet... he felt attracted to a person who he previously considered less then ants, to be squashed. He could not come to terms with it. Heck, the symbolism of the entire thing is also incredible, in the fact that his prayers were answered: When the guard comes in, wrapped in that blue glow which has been previously, in Heaven's Light been categorized as divine, telling him that Esmeralda escaped, giving him a chance to turn away and let it go. Instead, he turns to the fire place and tells the guard to leave, clinging to his obsession and turning to the demonic glow of the fireplace and cementing his descent into madness.

Oh yeah, he’s one of my favorite cover artists for the fact he goes the extra mile into the soul and emotions of the song. My next favorite of his covers would be Linkin Park’s Breaking the Habit.

Just so you know, Frollo was the priest in the original novel, and the musical. I think they changed him to a judge in the Disney movie because they thought that kids would have a hard time seeing a pastor as a bad guy.

Sour Punch Straw....LOL! Honey, I won't judge on smoking. I know it's not OK but hey I know it's some way for a calming mechanism. Don't worry, I won't judge. "I don't remember that from the movie!" Me: "It isn't, he probably added that to bring more intensity I guess. BUT IT'S BADASS!!!!"

In the book, Frollo was a priest - and not nearly as old as they portrayed him in the Disney film. He was also not an evil person - at least not at the start of the book. Book Frollo was the Archdeacon - a high ranking clergyman who had taken the priestly vow of celibacy and who desired nothing more than to be perfect and holy. His human desires and lust for Esmeralda drove him into madness and caused him to become completely unhinged, as he battled within himself between his desire for Esmeralda, and his desire to be holy. By the end he became a shadow of himself, willing to kill any in his path - including Esmeralda - rather than let anyone else possess her. In the Disney movie, the priest element is left out (which really robs the story of its twistedness) and the role of the archdeacon is given to a separate character that didn’t exist in the book - almost as if they split Frollo’s character in two: his good and evil natures, and made them two separate people. They instead made Frollo a judge - which really takes the edge off the story and robs it of its internal conflict - as judges are of a secular authority and do not have to remain celibate, as priests do. Later, Disney rebooted the movie into a darker, more adult, off-Broadway musical, restoring the character of Frollo to the priest that he was in the book. It was, in my opinion, much better than the movie. (You can find the music to the Broadway version on Spotify) As far as Jonathan Young’s version goes, it looks like he went with Frollo the priest, which is - in my opinion - the only truly effective way to interpret this song. It begs to be sung by a priestly character.

The woman dancing in this video is also a singer, a fairly good one, she does a lot of silly Google translated songs, but also some good ones along with Jonathan Young, like this one from Phantom of the Opera: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdCRlKeGy7KsZKM.html And Jonathan does some silly ones along with her, my favorite is Be Prepared from Lion King run through Google Translate a bunch of times. :P kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbpgbLJk2dfFhGg.html
