As mentioned this is an introduction song, so often an opening song. They also used this song when they first started to tour around the world. Including metal festivals. Just image, 3 girls, aged 16, 15 and 15 at a western metal festival, they make an impression with this song as their opener, that make people take notice. 🙂

I just saw them in San Francisco last night. It's great that whether they play arenas or small venues, they bring it and the fans love them for that. Neck is sore from headbanging, voice is strained, feet hurt... Mission accomplished. Hope you can see them, maybe they'll be back in the US next year. Otfgk

Hell yes! Most epic intro song ever. Also, in 2023, Babymetal co-headlined with Dethklok, and played Wallingford, CT, NY, and Boston in early Sep, along with a total of ~30 shows in North America Aug - Oct, 2023. Chances are they'll be near your neck of the woods this year again! 🤘🦊

This video was released a couple of months ago to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their first album being released - 'BABYMETAL Death' was the first song on that first album. They had not played it live since 2017 because it is an intro song and they are introducing themselves by name, but they couldn't use it with just two official members and the original third member Yuimetal didn't appear at all after October 2017 and officially announced she was leaving the band in October 2018. This performance was on 2nd April 2023 - the first concert with Momometal as an official member, so 'BABYMETAL Death' was back ... I don't know if you heard the crowd cheer particularly loudly when she introduced herself as "Momometal desu". The whole song is based on a pun. The English word death sounds to a Japanese speaker like the Japanese word desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp. Desu means to be - as in I am, we are, it is etc. Basically the lyrics for this song are: "B_A_B_Y_M_E_T_A_L" ... "I am Su-metal", "I am Moametal", "I am Momometal" "We are BABYMETAL" ... "Death Death Death Death Death Death Death Death". You may want to see the 'Legend 1997' performance where they were celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday in December 2013. That one was a really special performance. Being an introduction song they would normally play it right at the start of the concerts (it is a great way to get the crowd hyped and joining in straight away), but that was one of the special occasions where they played it later in the show - for that one it was the finale.🤘

Good one, thanks! They perform today and tomorrow in San Francisco and next Saturday in Las Vegas (I know, it's too late and too far from you). They have scheduled several shows in Europe, Japan and Thailand later this year but not a "proper" world tour (for now). And yes, seeing them live is highly recommended and quite an experience. "BABYMETAL DEATH" was (and is again) their usual show opener but this time they used it as a sort of encore for a good reason: it was the first time they performed this version since 2017 (this is from April 2023). The reason was that they were a duo during that period and they basically introduce themselves in the lyrics. This was the first show with Momometal as an official member so they were a trio again hence they could perform it again. 🤘🦊

For me, the most epic Babymetal song is Tales of the Destinies. It is so difficult to perform that it was played live only once. Difficulty level: impossible. This is a prog-metal song, in the style of Dream Theater. And Mike Portnoy even wrote about it (he praised it very much)

Thanks from Japan 有難う 💛。 So you did not go to see any show in BABYMETAL's North American tour (29 gigs) with DETHKLOK where this song opened the show. I witnessed this very performance at the venue and shouted "Death! Death!" numerous time. That is the only occasion when people shout that sinister word happily and smilingly, especially to celebrate rebirth of the band with newly inducted official member, Momometal. That is the reason why the audience's shout is the biggest when "Momometal Death" is voiced. Western (American) Kami Band played in the girls' back. I always appreciate the devoted support like knights by Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint (Ryan replaced in North America). They are really unsung heroes.

A couple of things I want to tell. First, I have never really liked life shows (even having gone to several with friends). But since I discovered BABYMETAL I became obsessed with going and I was lucky enough to be able to attend the concert in Madrid in December, it is certainly a unique experience that every fan should have. Now, I had a pretty serious problem at this concert... What do I do? headbang? but then I can't watch them dance, so just dance, but it's a banger and I have to headbang and I can't watch them perform (seriously, that happened to me). I'm happy you're uploading BABYMETAL again, I hope to see more soon. "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" would be amazing since it's my fave BM song and an absolute banger!🦊🦊🦊

Got the Ltd addtion Blu-ray of this the 2 shows at PIA Arena do not get tired of watching it the whole show is epic . They closed with Ijime Dame Zettai after this song . I have seen them perform this at Wembley Arena and Roundhouse twice in 2 back to back shows . The fans were going nuts . Even their small shows are an experience . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼 Ps there were around 12 circle pits going on during that song 😁

Such fun getting to watch along with you, thanks! I'm positive many more knowledgeable fans will give tons of great background, I'll try for a small detail. The handsign they make is a fox symbol; when they were first introduced to metal at young age (like 10-12) they mistook the devil horns symbol people made for fox shadow-puppet hand signs, and it was so perfect to incorporate it that it became a central theme to the band. One of their first songs even calls it out (Iine - pronounced ee-nay - they have a line that says its not a devil sign its a fox sign). All their concerts/albums and many songs reference fox imagery and symbolism. It's one small detail among hundreds, hope it is interesting!

Great reaction! You might have to wait a bit to see them...they were in NY and Boston this past September! I drove 5 1/2 hours from NY to Boston for my first Babymetal show...not the huge productions you see here as they have in Japan, but highly recommended! Smaller, more "intimate" show, and it was an awesome experience!

I so wish Babymetalwas popular enough in the US, to put on arena shows like this. Babymetal needs to be experienced in a huge setting like this.

I was actually at Babymetal Begins at PIA Arena. I was in the pit yelling "Death! Death! Death!" and jumping up and down like a maniac. I've been in the pit for a number of performances of Babymetal Death and I can say that the crowd at PIA was probably the most frenzied of any Babymetal shows that I have been to. Babymetal Begins was the official beginning of the new era of Babymetal and was the show that officially welcomed Momometal to the group, so the crowd was extra hyped. The show more than lived up to everyone's massive expectations.

Not only does 'SU-METAL DESU' mean she's introducing herself, it's also her super-hero transformation phrase. Like on Sailor Moon, Usagi says 'Moon Prism Power!' and turns into Sailor Moon, Suzuka Nakamoto shouts 'I AM SU-METAL' and becomes possessed by the spirit of the Fox God and transforms into the Metal Goddess SU-METAL. The magical girl who transforms into a hero is a huge trope in Japan, comparable to Disney princesses in the west. BABYMETAL DEATH! follows the trope and it's the moment that they all transform into their magical alter egos at the start of the show. 🦊 🦊 🦊 🖖 ❤

BABYMETAL play San Francisco Wed 24th and Thu 25th April 2024 (co-headline with Dethklock) ahead of their appearance at Sick New World festival, Las Vegas on Sat 27th April 2024. They might return towards the end of the year, otherwise expect a full tour in 2025.

Welcome back to the Foxhole. They're celebrating 10 years anniversary of the first album and along with this they released a Gimme Chocolate!! challenge on social media. They've been playing this blaster intro during the World Tour 2023/2024. This was the first "Babymetal Death" version with MomoMetal as an official member and it was a come back song after December 2017 iirc. They did Babymetal Death Shin Version at Budokan 2021 but it's a way different version. They finished a huge US tour last year. I saw 3 of those shows. Insanely fun. I flew to Japan in March and saw Legend MM. There's no comparison, period. Babymetal in Japan is the best thing I've ever done. The US shows just don't even hold a candle.

Actually, the connection to the next song is excellent. You can't experience that unless you actually attend a live show or buy a BD/DVD and watch it, so I recommend buying and watching it. 実はこの次の曲への繋ぎが秀逸なんですよ。 そういうのは、実際にライブに参加するか、BD/DVDを買って観ないと経験できないので、買って見ることをお勧めします。

Welcome back to the Foxhole! Don't fret the version you reacted to, as BM is best live and fans will always have their favorites. This performance ushered in Momometal as the new 3rd member after 5 years as a duo, so it was an important one. There are some great other versions, such as Legend 1997, Tokyo Dome, Legend S, but personally I love this one for the extra cheers that Momo gets when she introduces herself.

A very fun, enthusiastic reaction. Got some bad news for you though. You mentioned how you'd be willing to travel to NY or Boston. How about Japan? Currently the huge stage productions occur only in Japan. Babymetal regularly tour the world and recently toured America. But a production like this is only happening in Japan. Babymetal still rock the house just not with ALL the really big toys!

Last year eas their World Tour Thailand, Indonesia, Australien, their first European Tour as Opening Act for Sabaton, then their US Tour and then their second European Tour as Showrunner This Year they will mainly concentrate on the Festivals that booked them as Showrunners.

Their Default opening. But they had the problem that they couldn't use it after 2017. It was written for 3 Metals but after Yui left them they were only 2. They were taught to use stage persona on stage and this song was written to help them into their character. When Momo found out that she was the new metal she became nervous if the fans would accept her. There were a lit of Rumours surrounding yui and since americans don't know how special health insurance works they didn't understand how they would react to a career ending injury these rumours went totally of the rail. This was Momos first day as the new Metal and ut was probably for her quite satisfying how the audience reacted to her Momo Metal desu..

The OLDER live versions of Death are better..in my humble opinion...but this one is still great.
