Notice that literally everything he talks about here is about not fitting. His hand not fitting in the can, him not feeling as of he fits in the gym, the ingredients not fitting in his burrito, and ultimately him not fitting in in this business and the stage. Bo is truly a genius.

Interesting take. I like it. I saw an interview where Bo was kinda laughing about people over-analyzing the Pringles and Chipotle parts and said he just picked a couple random things to joke about to lead into the end.

There are two kinds of people. Those who listen to this and laugh and those who cry. This song always makes me cry bc it’s a true vision into Bo and his audience. He’s screaming on stage, telling us how much we’re hurting him and half the audience is just clapping along and thrusting themselves at him more, making it worse

This song always hits me like a straight up dick punch to the heart. Knowing that he was mid panic attack during it makes the whole thing so fucking REAL. It also makes All Eyes on Me that much more impactful. I think this song shows one of the biggest reasons why so many people (myself included) obsess over Bo’s work. The way he fearlessly exposes his mental health struggles to the world is something that makes every person who has their own struggles feel seen and not alone. It’s both cathartic and inspiring at the same time. Awesome reaction! Can’t wait for more!

Everything about this is awesome. Especially because he was having a panic attack during the performance. He had had several attacks on stage during this tour, and you can hear it in his voice at the end. Breaks my heart. And although Netflix puts the song Are You Happy as the last song in the special, Can't Handle This was actually the final song of his set. And yes, he took a 5 year break after the tour ended.

@@gabbie25 I've seen more than one interview where he talks about having multiple panic attacks on stage [10?] during the Make Happy tour. He mentions that in Inside although he doesn't specifically say during which songs he had them. He talked about having trouble getting enough breath [a symptom of panic] and having to perform the song basically on his inhale. You can see and hear in this performance his sharp intakes of breath a couple of times.
@xsithspawnx
@xsithspawnx 2 жыл бұрын
If you look back on the lyrics from All Eyes on Me from his Inside special that you reacted to, this was basically the end of his last series of shows before going on the big five year break that he talked about due to having severe panic attacks on stage. After all his joking about pringles and burritos he talks about his relationship with the audience and how it's becoming a problem, being constantly anxious about making them happy while worried about being himself and struggling with his own mental health problems. He mentioned in an interview later that he was actually having a breaking during this performance and basically went backstage and cried for up to 2 hours. You can't really tell unless you know what to look for because he practices so much that he's said he's basically on autopilot when performing at these shows, so he can be completely freaking out internally and barely showing it on stage. It's definitely worth a rewatch on your own time with the added context, IMO, as it hits a bit different. The funny lines are still great, but knowing what he's actually going through gives the lines where he starts to get serious a whole different feeling. Great reaction and breakdown over all though! I'd throw out Hell of a Ride, Repeat Stuff, From God's Perspective, We Think We Know You, and How the World Works, as a few fun suggestions for more Bo.

We Think We Know You really hits hard when one understands how it is to feel used by people only by their perception of how you can be of use for them. The burrito is his new life and he “wouldn’t have got half of this” if he knew what it meant beforehand. This song is about a young introvert being trapped on a stage that he put himself on , sheeeshhhhh

Something to know about Can't Handle This - This is the bit in his shows where he started having his most severe anxiety attacks. Saying out loud, admitting to everyone that "I don't think I can handle this right now" started pushing him over the edge and forced him to realize that he really couldn't. And then he had to take 5 years off. All Eyes On Me, from Inside, is effectively the second part about Can't Handle This, and that's why he's deliberately pitched his voice like Kanye, the whole way All Eyes On Me is performed is deliberately calling back to Kanye, because the piece that shoved Bo over the edge was the "Kanye Rant".

One thing a lot of people don't pick up on, and this may be looking a little deep into it, but with bo you never know if something is meant to be funny or philosophical. But that is I think personally when he was talking about the burrito he was talking about himself. He talks about how he wouldn't of gotten half the contents if he knew it wouldn't fit, which I think is him reflecting his career and life. He's been very very vocal about how he hates how big he got because he doesn't think he deserves it. It's possible the burrito was a symbol for him and all of the contents, the "shit" that caused it to overflow is his career and everything that's come with it. But it's also possible the burrito thing was just bo being silly to have a contrast and distraction from when he actually starts talking about his declining mental health and his love hate relationship with his fan base. However the fact that this symbolism and looking into his lyrics so deeply like that isn't a stretch shows how much of a genius he is. If you don't react to at least 7 more videos from him at some point in this channel I think you'll very much be missing out. Namely: - from God's perspective - left brain right brain - sad - art is dead - are you happy - nerds - words words words Some of these aren't very funny and are more of his more serious songs when you start to look at them from a more intense perspective, and they are intense. But I think it's where bo burnham shines most. Also putting the rant about bo aside excellent reaction it's always entertaining to see your take and opinion on things.

This is one of my favorite songs by Bo. I still can't listen to this without tearing up. His album, Inside, is something he did 5 years later (he did the whole thing by himself from his home because of the pandemic). I also like how his songs start out with a comedic edge but there is almost always a heavier message within them (the line about "and laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself" hits hard). This was his last live performance for 5 years - he had to take a break. GREAT reaction - thanks!

I think the burrito thing is an expression about his career. He had experts (managers) that didn't tell him that it would be so much that he couldn't hold or contain it all. He had an internet career that made him and it all happened so fast especially for someone so young. Edit: He wouldn't have done half of it if he knew or someone would have told him how much it would be and take such a toll on him personally. People can only handle so much and he was stuffed with all this shit (publicity, expectations, etc)

There's a lot of neat stuff he does - My favorite part, after he's explained how his problem is the audience and trying to meet their expectations, when the lights come up and he goes back into the Burrito thing - after talking about how he can't handle it and is very personal, he goes back to singing about the burritos and funny stuff but he's completely 100 percent backlit - can't see him at all. He's back to hiding in the comedy. The next time you see his face is at a "Can't handle this right now" part. That's the real him. Other themes - The pringles? Not enough space to move. Overstuffed burrito? There's more shit here than it can handle. Bo is a genuine artist - Everything he does is planned, thought out and curated. He's a really neat artist. When he talks about the fear and love, his voice goes high with depression and deep with anxiety. It's a really amazing piece crammed full of symbolism, and it's catchy.

I know this is random and kinda a reach. But he says “a part of me loves you a part of me hates you, and a part of me fears you” All of the complaints (burritos/Pringles and the gym) has a reason to be loved and hated and feared. Junk food is loved obviously but also hated because of what it could do to your body. Also why you may fear it. The gym is also something you could love, but because of the fear attached to it and what could result from indulging in the junk food mentioned, that could also cause one to hate it. “Irony can be so painful” Just interesting how deep it can really go even if unintentional.

The whole thing is a set of analogies. The pringles can is about wanting more out of life but being limited, then when you try to make it all happen, it spills out and you cant handle it. Burrito is about how fame and fortune came with more than he expected, and if he knew it wouldnt fit, he never would have asked for the "cheddar".

I don’t think there is any meanings to Pringles or burritos. It’s just a setup for ‘you can tell them anything if you just make it funny…’ it’s the meaningless comedy people want. I think the lights show clearly what is actually him and what is his persona.
