Reaction to CM Punk Jack Perry All In "Brawl" Footage
#aewdynamite #cmpunk #jackperry
We finally got to see the infamous footage of CM Punk and Jack Perry's "brawl" at last August's All In event that lead to the departure of both from the company.
Everyone will have their opinions about it but here's my reaction to the footage, to the response from the parties involved, whether this is a good or bad thing, and taking the temperature of the online wrestling community.

Another embarrassment for pro-wrestling. Punk can laugh but he looks like an unprofessional jerk with possible anger issues. Khan looks like someone who way overexaggerated his life being threatened. Perry looks like he cares more about his hair than anything else. Samoa Joe, Chris Hero, and Jerry Lynn look like the only adults in the room. Hook looks like he doesn't know WTF is happening. Aubrey is running for the hills. All around, a black eye on an industry too long seen as "a bunch of overgrown children" to the rest of the world (and half of us who watch this stuff). AEW is getting dangerously close to the late-2000s TNA, WCW-2000 era and may have just stepped over that line. Time will tell if they can recover. Hopefully some in the company will grab Tony's ear and tell him to let this stuff go focus more on coming up with two or three mega angles that will lead us into All In come August.

I think they need a strong Go-Home show next year, a near perfect PPV for Dynasty and a hook that will engage the audience from the feuds we are getting like Hook & Jericho, now with Mariah May & Mika & Toni Storm, a possibility that Statlander attack Mone and end the relationship with Willow, a career threatening stake between the acciamed and Bullet Club Gold, and creating storyline within the Tag Team division, and maybe combining the international and Continential belts. And finally stop mentioning WWE and let them keep talking about AEW because the more they keep it up, more likey a casual fan would be curious to see what AEW is all about. Tony Khan did look a fool after this, but HHH's creativity will reach to a halt at some point.

@@Arby065 They might have, as someone else stated, "jumped the shark". If this leads to us going back to 2012 era wrestling with only one company anyone respects as "big league" again, I think it'll be time for me to go back to a casual fan again. Hopefully, that's not the case, but the damage is done. Punk started the spark that drove interest to that world and ironically might be the one to destroy it as well.

@@zomb60 of course it's irrelevant. of course being a p.o.s is fine because the industry was built off jerks ... and apparently sexual predators but I'm sure that's just fine too ... a fanbase that ignores sponsorship after dismemberments and perverse abuses of power ... why would any of that matter and if that kind of stuff does matter to you, you're thin skinned ... none of it matters as long as we get our ENTERTAINMENT. "This won't hurt WWE". Yes, that's what we really care about. That's what's important.

@rassslinRant maybe i'm being insensitive. Sexual abuse aside ( because i'm talking about a backstage scuffle, not abuse) It's a tough guy sport at the end of the day. Draymond Greene punched Jordan Poole in the face at practice. The fans said their piece and got over it. With wrestling, a fight can happen backstage, and it's like the most appalling thing to wrestling fans. I've seen many fight in our locker rooms when i was in sports. Doesn't make someone a p.o.s. for being rowdy. Sometimes, it's needed. As insensitive at it sounds

Given that almost everything Punk said on the MMA hour was correct, it makes me think that everything he’s said before is true. We actually have evidence that tells the truth with this. Yes it’s one bit, but it’s more than any other accounts we’ve gotten when it comes to AEW. Considering that, I don’t understand how you guys see Punk as the one who comes off anywhere near bad with this. Considering everything he said that happened in the fight, did, we have no reason to not believe his claims of what lead up to it. That being Jack Perry being told multiple times by many AEW staff not to use the real glass for multiple reasons. He cusses them out, refuses to listen, and punk eventually has to come up, and try to explain why. After all that was done, Perry had his match, and did what he did into the camera. Not only is that disrespectful to punk, that’s disrespectful to everyone who had told Jack Perry not to do it. It was also on their biggest show ever. On their biggest stage he choose to put that little backstage little interaction into the forefront. So when he comes back, and Punk confronts him about it, why wouldn’t Punk be fired up? This comes off terrible for AEW, and Jack Perry. He comes off as a disrespectful brat who puts his own grievances ahead of the company. While Punk comes off as someone who someone who is standing up for those who Jack disrespected, and not to mention AEW has just proven that Punk isn’t a lair. This was the worst move for AEW

It might hurt AEW in the long run. But TK was not happy with Punk's interview at all. Yes, Punk has a self control issue despite being the great wrestler he is. He could have easily avoided his views of TK in the interview. Video highlighted what is known, Punk's 0 self control. Punk doesn't mention his lack of self control in his interview with Helwani. He is not the victim. Lots of criminals lack self control and that's why they commit crimes. Not saying Punk's a criminal but if you show lack of self control in an office, you deserve to be fired for it. However, as I said, it might hurt AEW in the long run. IMO, TK should not have aired this video. Not good for the company and may be not good for Perry or Punk. Just say Punk has a 'self control' issue and move on.

Second, the video shows pretty much just what I thought it would. Perry made some poor choices with regard to using the glass and then making the comments. And Punk for some stupid reason decided to use a physical response to a verbal sparring. Third and most interesting to me is that it appears FTR signed off on the storyline. This makes little sense to me. And their comments in the ring may indicate there is some distance between FTR and Punk and/or WWE. I had assumed their issues with WWE were mostly resolved with the installation of HHH as the main creative force.

AT ALL. again just make your roster look better by comparison, Scary part is I dont know if TK is going to learn Anything from this, i hope he does for the company's sake, i wish he would change his image by just being a competent boss, but its starting to look like Dixie carter with TNA, and thats never a good thing, it doesnt help that Cody left, Jade left, Andrade left, ....CM Punk left, idk what AEW can do, but i dont wanna go back to a time (2002-2019) where WWE is the ONLY game in town, its not good if theres no legit competition for them, but uhm. thanks for reading.

Tony is a billionaire with connections. Get your guys and girls on talk shows during the five days a week they have off and let them do it there. In fact, I'm rather surprised in hindsight that, with all the time AEW stars have off, that the rest of the week isn't spent sending them to every media source they can to promote the company. In some ways, they have that advantage over WWE whose stars have less off days.

To be fair, CM Punk and HHH still aren't done with it either taking shots DURING MANIA WEEK! AEW has a right to respond. Plus they worked it into the story awesomely!

The best response would be to put out great show after great show with engaging stories that draw and keep fans asking what will happen next and never mention Punk or the incident again.

Honestly all this did was confirm what Punk said on the podcast which is really weird

Apparently the "feared for his life" footage is after the match so it wasn't in this clip

Hopefully its over now. It was pettiness at it's finest but in a way Punk kinda started it in that Ariel Helwani interview he could have chose to say nothing about AEW or Tony Khan in the interview but he chose to and I guess it pissed TK off so much he decided to show this video but this still did nothing for AEW but get Punk trending and even getting chants at YOUR SHOW smh. This whole situation is embarrassing and probably did more damage to AEW than CM Punk.

This is a joke man. Under no circumstances was this a good idea to air. This is nothing.
