You mentioned a lot of things that I have noticed as well. It’s not just the 1 in a billion voice. It’s the charisma, the emotional weight, the rhythmic swaying, the intensity, the mysterious tribal feel, etc. I’ve never seen another performer as fully complete and committed, regardless of age. A French singer called Indila recorded this song with a video..the video depicting a troubled upbringing with little parental love. This version by Diana is very different vocally with a much stronger emphasis on acting the theme of the song..allowing the change in vocal style to describe the different emotions being portrayed. This is one clever lady who I’d be interested in seeing acting. This begs the question is Diana an actress or a singer…angel or demon? For me she is an almost unique singer with an incredible contralto vocal which she uses to great effect to bring out the emotion of the song. This is a very different genre of music for me but nonetheless it provokes interest within me. Yep, I think you liked it Sabina, recognising the twists and turns within the delivery.
