Depeche mode was founed in 1980, by Vince Clark( later Yazoo, Erasure) Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher and Dave Gahan (Lead singer). Debut album, is Speak and Spell. Okt. 1981. Vince Clark was the prime songwriter, on this record. He left after the first record. Martin Gore took over songwriting , and in came Alan Wilder, (officially member in 1983, on the album Construction time again). They are a very innovative band. Changing sound an style on every new record. Alan Wilder, sadly left the Band in 1995. He had a huge impact on Depeche mode's style and sound. Alan Wilder was in Depeche mode, ( In my opinion )a underrated musician, and very skilled keyboard player. Martin wrote the songs. but it was Alan who spend the days and nights in the Studio, to get the best out of Martins brilliiant songwriting. Actually, there is an amazing story, behind Enjoy the Silence. Martin originally, wrote this song as a slow ballad, with a harmonium as the only instrumental back-up. But Alan Wilder, came up with the idea, to put a beat to it. Martin came up with the guitar riff. Then Alan and the producer Flood, took the song to the studio, and produced this simple, beautiful and durable synth pop song. They released their 15th studio album in Marts 2023, Memento mori
