Home Free is the real deal. They won their season after Pentatonix won. They are amazingly gifted. The beatboxer is world class. Tim Foust, the bass, has 5 octaves and can sing in the depths all the way up to tenor. All the boys can beatbox to a degree. They have collaborated with Kenny Rogers, Don McLean, Oak Ridge boys (twice), Alabama, Lee Greenwood. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own stuff. If you like bass, try their latest, Brothers in Arms. Also Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, In the Blood, Man of Constant Sorrow, Folsom Prison Blues to hear more great harmonies. Here because of my boys from Home Free....this is actually about 7 years old now. They have collabed with the Oak Ridge Boys again in 2020. Home Free did a streaming holiday special just about exactly 1 yerar ago (it was fimed in Oct 2020 & streamed Nov 3rd to Nov 6th I believe) and they had on the Oak Ridge Boys and there is one song they made a video of...it's a Chrsitmas song too... "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem". It's November it's ok to react to Christmas songs now !!

I am so glad you reacted to this collaboration between Home Free & The Oakridge Boys. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a newer version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp is the vocal percussion beatboxer. He is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.

PTX won the 3rd season of The Sing Off. Home Free won the 4th season. Another group from the 4th season that is gaining in popularity is VoicePlay. Their style is more musical theatre, dressing and acting out numbers like Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean At Lands End and This is Halloween from Nightmare Before Christmas. The did a stunning video for the Halo theme (listen to the whole video please).

Actually, it was my understanding that Pentatonix was on a tv competition program one season, and Home Free competed the next season. They did not compete with each other. In both cases, they both took first place in their season's competition.

So there's always a lot of confusion around the Sing-Off and which season and who won when. PTX won season 3 in 2011, while Home Free won season 4 in 2013. It was a year between seasons, but not a season between their respective wins. You can do old stuff and new stuff, we don't care, we love it all. We are the Home Fries, the Home Free fans, and as you will notice, if you haven't already, we love our guys and most of us are kind and loving, just like the guys in the band are. They not only have crazy talent, together and individually, but they are also genuinely wonderful and caring human beings who constantly use their platform, their music, to spread messages of love and unity. While they do mostly covers they are not just another cover band, and their originals are fire. You can't go wrong with these guys. haha that story was with some new artist and Paul McCartney. I don't remember who the new artists was but it was youngsters saying that the new group was "nice" to feature some old unknown artist (yeah, Paul McCartney was the "unknown" guy SMH). I'd suggest the HF Kenney Rogers collaboration of Children Go Where I Send Thee for an awesome Christmas tune along these same lines.
