Man i didn’t even have spotify back then i had to listen to it on an free website 😭 Literally didnt know much about social media and refresh the key word “EXO” on youtube everyday just for a single new video of them 😩 (I start noticing them after hearing Baekhyun and D.O’s vocals in History). It was the first time in my life i’ve ever heard a kpop group voices sounds THIS GOOD. Thank god i found EXO 🙏🙏🙏😭🫶🫶🫶 Also EXO’s fandom was “EXOTIC” back then. Then after a few years SM give us the official fandom called “EXO-L”

Like this album came on June of 2013 and i start being obsessed with EXO since April of that year. Then this album came and OMG TAKE MY HEART MY TIME MY MONEY EVERYTHING YOU WANT FROM ME EXO 😭😭🙏🙏🙏 The XOXO repackaged ver came on August of 2013 with Growl n shi and EXO started to blow up i was SO GLAD people finally notice them 😭🫶🫶🫶 (was kinda angry too because people just like them because they’re hot☠️). Then the news start talking about how that album got sold for 1mil copies the FIRST TIME after years kpop ever have that thing happen again. Man this album is revolutionary in kpop. It marks so many important events and invented key parts of the kpop culture. First, the physical album thing. Second, the photocards culture. Because eventhough it was 2013 people already use digital album so selling the physical ones was really hard. So when EXO did it it becomes a trend and nobody expected it to become such a significant part of kpop culture. And now as you can see all the kpop artists try to sell the most albums they can. I understand the appeal of XOXO physical album tho because it’s just like a student notebook
