Ireland left a lot of scores behind them but they got the bonus point and certainly had moments of excellence in bursts. The scrum was strong, lineout good, maul worked really well, handling errors was low, tackles missed not too bad, and they flowed nicely in attack as a unit and individually with some lovely line-breaks and set moves. Kicking was a bit loose and that's something they'll want to sharpen up come the bigger matches but plenty to be happy about and we could see how it could have been another 21 points on the board. There's a lot more in that team and that's exciting.

Shock, horror.. The Irish chuffed about scrum penalties? Matt Williams, where are you? Aren't scrums just a tool for restarts? Isn't scrumming for penalties, kicking for touch, winning the lineout maul against the spirit of the game? Its just not rugby is it? Real rugby is stringing countless, boring phases together with little tip passes out the back, behind obstructors until an opponent falls off a tackle and someone ( usually a NZ mercenary) can canter through. Any moment now they'll be trying the 7 -1 split and taking a scrum from a mark...and then there's BOD singing the praises of an Irish squad which has substitutes that can add impact and "fit in" seamlessly knowing exactly what is expected of them, understanding their role.. er....you mean like a > Bomb Squad? The difficulty is not to play well a game, but to be consistent week in and week out. Georgia won in Wales but it was the most important game of the season for them, like when Italy lost in Tbilisi. For Italy, who just won in Cardiff, it was the last game of the season, Georgia was pumped up like crazy and they deserved the win. Then, when it was Georgia's time to shine and they were not the underdog anymore, they finish last in their group stage at the WC. What happened to Portugal, losing to Belgium, was a similar thing. Another problem is the depth of your team, maybe you have a great starting XV, but you need to have 40 good players to be successful in the competition.

you don't have a clue so stop talking, italian rugby is a century+ old, personally i am the third generation of my family to have played. Even though we have only been graciously invited in the six nations 24 years ago and we may not have had the most shining results, we have won 13 times since entering the tournament and beaten every other tier 1 nation in the world (many times over) except the kiwis and the english. Do let me know when any other tier2 european team does that and has at least some semblance of high level professional club competitions to support tier1 level week in week out at the international level. It is all well and good for portuguese (your name sound portuguese btw) and romanians to get hyped for a one off meaningless summer test match against the third string of a tier1 nation who had probably not even bothered to scout them in advance, they would get thrashed every game if they were to actually sustain the level of competition required to play tier1 rugby.
