Amazing ladies you have found. Haruna the drummer is one of the best metal engines I have ever heard. Fast with all sorts of little fills and great transitions. Asami, the vocalist, is such a powerful contrasting vocal style to the music being played, and it works perfectly. Miho, the bassist, pretty much always drives the engine along with Haruna, playing with very fast fingers. She is gone, and we the Wolfpack are excited to see how they sound with the new bassist Fami. A new album, Judgement Day, coming out in February.. BTW - Pianist fun fact. Miyako had never played that Roland Digital piano before the concert, and after feeling the action before the show she said was 'concerned'. Then you can see in the video that she played the whole Etude with her freaking Eyes Closed!

Good to see a fellow Brit appreciate this band (and pronounce Chopin correctly 😂). I only discovered them a year and a half ago and now have almost all of the back catalogue and T shirts (Awake Again is virtually impossible to get). The Chopin piece performed by Miyako (guitar/keyboard) as the intro is "Etude OP10, No12", known as "Revolution Etude" In 1831, an uprising of some officers and civilians against the Polish government under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, dubbed the "November Revolution", failed due to the direct intervention of Russian forces. Chopin is informed of this news during his travels. he lost his place to return to. When the Russian army invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agents released "Etude OP10, No.12" in Paris. People called it a "revolutionary etude" because of the agent's exaggerated promotion of the song. Miyako composed "SwanSong" with reference to this "revolutionary etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony". Former ballerina Asami (vocals) wrote a poem inspired by Norse mythology and "Swan Lake" based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude". "SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim fatherland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES can complete. Nice Reaction. When your opening was about being a pianist, and really getting into good bands, my thought's were "This is going to be good"🙂. Серый gave you a lot of great info. I would add that the ladies see themselves as Lone Wolves, saving Heavy Metal from where it's fallen, and adding their own touch. Their Spirit animal is the Wolf, and a Wolf or Wolves appears on every Lovebites release except their 1st EP. They dress elegantly in White because it helps them to be seen on stage (tallest is 5'2"), and they say they see no reason why they can't be feminine and blow your face off at the same time. They are super-talented, committed, determined -- and FIERCE young women. And I Love them. (especially Haruna, the cutest drummer in the world)

Mainly because of the fact that you are one of the few that appreciates, and gives Haruna her due, for the work she puts in behind the kit. I will sub to you. Bear in mind that... one song, and you are hooked. Two songs, and you are addicted. A habit you won't want to kick. I, and a lot of others, will say that their live performances are better than the MV's in most cases. You will learn why in due course. For a song with 14 guitar solo's in it, I will always recommend 'Scream For Me'. Live of course. If you want to see one of the best ballads ever performed, then 'Epilogue' (live) is an absolute must. "Etude Op.10, No.12" ( or "Revolutionary Etude") by the great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland. "Swan song" ( lyrics - Asami , music -Miyako) from the third album LOVEBITES "Electric Pentagram" (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of swans is amazingly beautiful. "Etude" by F. Chopin and "Swan Song" are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, "Etude" and "Swan Song" are played together. In an interview given after the release of the "Electric Pentagram" album, Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky "Swan Lake" . During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Because the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured on video.

This was composed by Miyako, piano/guitar with the lyric by Asami, vocals. All write songs with Miyako having written half. The piano backing track was recorded by Miyako for this concert. Their songs are final engineered and produced in Finland by the same team that do Nightwish. Show this to your friend and when it's over tell him that Miyako (1st solo) has never had guitar lessons!! In their five years of existence thus far, they have easily put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-long hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 and their fans eagerly await their next move. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. With Miho having left for personal reasons, they recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. As Mr Gatson says, they have no peer. In my view they are the best there has ever been. Everything they do is to this standard, every time. You, my friend, are going to have to shell out a small fortune, although as you sound like you come from 13 miles south of me (hint) you can save a little by buying the releases on JPU records, their U.K. distributors. Their last live release, ‘Heavy Metal Never Dies’ is also available to stream from them for a one off payment. They’re licensed to stream it for another three years (it’s 12 months old). But JPU doesn’t have everything, so I suggest looking at Japanese imports for the rest. Believe me when I tell you that the entire collection, for a band that released 3 albums, two lives and two EP’s from 2017 to 2020 (before Covid and the unexpected departure of the bassist and founder member) shows just how prolific they are. They have, on occasion, covered other tracks (wait until you hear Painkiller) but they compose, write and perform their own material, and it is consistently excellent. No deviation. Their work has produced a very dedicated fan base, who treat them almost as Royalty, but the band are very down to earth, very centred, lyrically uplifting and very very appreciative of the fan base. They deserve far more recognition than they currently receive, which is why your channel has just been invaded by the Wolfpack…our job, our sacred duty, is to promote Lovebites and their image as far and wide as possible. For some reason, I seem to get some dust in my eyes when listening to some Lovebites songs. I've always thought the bass is a bit too far back in the mix for most of their songs. I'm hoping they start to bring it forward a bit more now they got Fami in the band with her technical bass skills.

Well you've just entered the Lovebites' rabbit hole ! You'll get plenty of suggestions as to which tracks to review ( they're a great band live ) so here's some info on the members - Haruna ( drummer ) - is a 4'10" bundle of energy who never misses a beat ( up to 160+BPM ) Miyako ( dark haired guitarist & pianist ) is a classically trained pianist , from the age of 3 , who only took up the guitar aged 19 ! Midori ( blonde guitarist ) also started piano at a young age , moved to organ and finally took up guitar aged 20 Asami ( vocalist ) I think had some ballet training but her vocal roots are in R&B Miho ( bassist ) is a superb bass player who recently left the band and has now been replaced by another superb bass player called Fami Their musicianship is amazing , as is their versatility , certainly among the very best bands in the world today . BTW . The piano track you could hear was laid down by Miyako in advance ( I've only ever seen her play guitar AND piano at the same time in one video ! 😂) Enjoy !

Plus blu-ray with all Lovebites music videos, for which special thanks to Victor Entertainment (watching MV in blu-ray quality is not the same as the video on YT). And all studio releases except for a couple of EP's. And this is the best investment in a music product in terms of the number of listenings, views and pleasure received. This is despite the fact that I am not interested in classical metal, and from old music I like Led Zeppelin, Yes of the first half of the 70s, as well as King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Weather Report.
