The instrument that caught your attention is the Uillean Pipes (Irish traditional bagpipes), one of the traditional instruments used by Troy Donockley (UK), who joined the band in 2007. He was confirmed as a permanent member of the band in 2013, along with Floor Jansen. Nightwish's repertoire is vast and very diverse stylistically, including songs that will surely be to your taste, such as the ballad "Sleeping Sun" and the folk-influenced song "My Walden", which I recommend. This band is capable of many different styles of songs. Floors voice often brings me and many others to tears. They have powerful songs.

The song itself is a cover of Gary Moore, but it's also a long time Nightwish favorite. Also, they definitely know Whitman. The title of Nightwish's "Song of Myself" is no coincidence. By the way, that one is absolutely worth checking out.

The late Paddy of the Irish Folk band The Chieftains was a master of the uilleann pipes, like Troy is. Notoriously difficult instrument to master. Both the Chieftains and Nightwish have played the same Gary Moore song, derived from an old Irish folk song. Its an Irish Uilleann bag pipe . it works different then the tradional scottish bagpipe is blow into but the Ui;;eann pipe is driven by a bellows under the right elbow that gets pumped up while playing , the air goes into a holding bag under his left elbow then flows threw the reeds . its not electric they use mics to amplify .

It is not there original song. "Over the Hills and Far Away" is a traditional British song, dating back to at least the late 17th century. One version was published in Thomas D'Urfey's Wit and Mirth, or Pills to Purge Melancholy; a very different one appeared in George Farquhar's 1706 play The Recruiting Officer. They don't talk about that, they pretend that this is there original song. It is not, they make cover song without confessing it, they are deceitful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That´s Bvllsh1t...Most definitely they´ve mentioned that this is just another rendition of "Over the Hills and Far Away", a version which leans quite tightly on to Gary Moore´s original album version( ft. The Chieftains ) You´re more than welcome to show in where they´re "pretending" to own the song(?) This particular musical piece is all composed in this form by the late Gary Moore. Anyone who´s listened G. Moore´s version, even with half ear, recognize the similarities all the way through the track, including the guitar solo. There´s no way in these days that artists take songs out of the thin air and start claiming it´s their´s now, at least without further legal activities. So.... On top of that : you could´ve just put the link straight to the "Source" from where your comment originates, which seems to be WiKiPeDiA. Eh??? - Common Knowledge - - Brain Usage Is Allowed -
