Paul McCartney is without a doubt probably most amazing musician in the last 500 years he can sing with such a range from low to high from soft to hard effortlessly like he's some kind of a mutant he plays like six different instruments being one of the best bass players of all time an amazing lead guitar and acoustic guitar he plays a piano just as well as Billy Joel or Elton John and he is a monster on the drums his songwriting he was one of the Beatles if you were to go through his songwriting catalog it would take you probably about 3 months to listen to every song and you wouldn't find a bad one in there he's written the greatest masterpieces of the 20th century you really need a deep dive into who this guy is he is truly one of a kind once in a lifetime musician nobody else even comes close

He really did. In almost 30 years of marriage the only nights he didn’t sleep with her was when he got arrested trying to smuggle pot into Japan when Wings was on tour. He always said there wasn’t any place he’d rather spend the night than at home with Linda. He was totally devastated when she died and he finally went for counseling which helped him get through his overwhelming grief.

Paul was the bassist for the Beatles but he played every instrument at one time or another. Most notable examples are playing solo guitar, in an acoustic, finger picked style, on the Beatles' most covered song ever, Yesterday. He played the electric solo guitar on Taxman. Piano on the number 1 Let it Be. Paul played drums on many of the White Album songs and the number 1 in the UK Ballad of John and Yoko. Paul's rough, screaming style of singing can be heard on She's a Woman, I Got a Feeling, I'm Down, and Helter Skelter.

He wrote this when under extreme stress with Beatles breakup unfolding. There was infighting going on between him and John, as to who was going to legally represent them . Paul wanted his wife's father, a NY lawyer named John Eastman, while John wanted a notoriously shady dude Allen Klein. Paul fell into a deep depression, and retreated to his farm in the country. Drinking and drugging heavily, it was his wife Linda who slapped him back into reality and gave him the courage to go it alone, which his first solo album showed. I mean as far as talent goes, we're talking about a Beatle icon here. He did it all himself, perhaps to prove a point to John? Just speculation, but that's my guess.

Yes, Paul did a lot of that gritty, 'screaming' type singing in The Beatles, too. It was one of their things, being really energetic, especially in the earlier years. Maybe less as they got more psychedelic, but he still did it. Helter Skelter by the Beatles is considered one of the first metal-type songs, you should check it out. Actually Motlely Crue did a cover of it on their early album and it's very good.
@farrken

Yeah, he did it all. He's a very talented guy. He wrote many great songs. Listen to Blackbird by the Beatles and you'll hear him play a beautiful acoustic guitar. He uses a hybrid finger picking/strum technique that's very difficult. I've played guitar for years and I still can't do it right! He was the bassist in the Beatles but played piano on many recordings and guitar on some. Sang and wrote almost half the songs. All songs written by he or John Lennon are credited to both of them, but if he was the primary writer, he would usually sing lead and if Lennon was the primary writer Lennon would usually sing lead. Of course George Harrison wrote and sang a number of great songs too. The Beatles were amazing and groundbreaking in so many ways, that's why many consider them the greatest band of all time.

His daughter Mary McCartney has just directed the documentary If These Walls Could Sing. It is her feature documentary debut, about the history of Abbey Road Studios in London and the experiences and memories of the musicians who have played there. It was created as the Centrepiece of Abbey Road Studios’ 90th anniversary celebrations in November 2022.[6] It was announced in January 2021 that McCartney would direct a documentary about Abbey Road Studios.[7] McCartney said “some of my earliest memories as a young child come from time spent at Abbey Road, I’ve long wanted to tell the story of this historic place.”[8] As well as her father Paul McCartney, contributions are reported to be from Jimmy Page, Kate Bush, Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher, Pink Floyd, John Williams, Celeste, Elton John, Giles Martin, and Shirley Bassey.[9] Production is by Mercury Studios and Ventureland. McCartney said what she “wanted from the interviews was to drill down into those musicians really feel about Abbey Road. "Do you really care about Abbey Road? It's a building and you recorded here, but whatever. Do you really care?" And I think from the interviews, you can really see they are thinking fondly about it.”[10] Wikipedia.

When I was a small child I was left-handed out of six children and everyone else was right handed. My oldest brother was in high school and knew I was having a little trouble Because sometimes people wanted me to do things right handed. Even in schools at that time they try to convert kids to be right handed for some reason. Since I was a twin, they let me remain left-handed so they could tell me and my sister apart since we were so identical. Anyway, my big brother told me one day that Paul McCartney was left-handed. Even though I already liked the Beatles, that made me have a special bond with Paul and I loved him even more… Still do to this day. I never minded being different than everyone else after that.… In anything that I did. And when I watched the Beatles I always noticed Paul playing his guitar left-handed. Being a child in the 60s was great.

And the harmonies he sang in the Beatles - he was the high voice - were out of this world. And he can play many, many instruments. He is the most successful songwriter in pop music history. And, his latest solo work - try listening to 'Sing the Changes', 'You Tell Me' and/or 'House of Wax' - either of these three songs will blow you away. And very recently he did 'I Can Find My Way.' Think about this. A player of multiple musical instruments goes into a recording studio. He first uses his favorite instrument, say a piano, to be given a baseline. It's additionally his best instrument. So then he plays a second instrument while a technician is playing the first instrument. This is called dubbing or layering. One layer is one musical instrument. Each layer adds another musical instrument. You're able to additionally call it multiple layering. How is this possible? You probably saw a double cassette deck in the past. The exception is that there's room where extremely expensive equipment is located. That equipment has an infinite amount of adjustments he could do the sound booth where the recorder is placed. This is how Sir Paul was able to accomplish doing this in that recording studio.

**The man...The Myth...The legend....Mr. Paul McCartney** In my opinion one of if not THE best singer/songwriter EVER. With over 500 songs written or co-written, 71 with the Beatles alone, to his name who even comes close? Yes he plays all the instruments on this album and is capable of playing many more. The man is musical talent personified. The song is written for Linda who got him out of his funk when the Beatles broke up and stuck with him and supported him every step of the way. When the Beatles broke up Paul was MORBIDLY depressed, he almost thought his life and career was over. First he stopped eating, then stopped washing, started drinking heavily, and finally stopped getting out of bed totally. It was Linda that as the song says "Maybe I'm amazed at the the way you pulled me out of time, You hung me on a line......" essentially got his ass in gear again. The pictures in the vid are of his deceased wife Linda, her 2 children Heather and Mary, and their sheepdog Martha for whom the Beatle song "Martha My Dear" is written for. I've always said if I could trade lives with anyone from birth to death it would be Paul McCartney. Who else led a better life? Born and raised in an upper middle class loving family, went to the best schools, founded the greatest rock band EVER, left them and formed another almost as good, then went on to a amazing solo career equaled by very few, had a supportive and loving soulmate of a wife for years, and a couple of children of their own, and is now worth over a BILLION dollars. What more could anyone ask from life? Peace

Paul had 3 children with Linda, Mary, Stella and James. Heather was Linda's daughter from her first marriage, but with the permission of Heather's father, Paul legally adopted Heather. Paul also had a daughter, Beatrice Millie, with his 2nd wife ( whom he married a few years after the love of his life Linda, passed away from breast cancer), but that marriage only lasted a few years. He is now happily married again to Nancy Shevell for the last 11 years.

I only did bass, guitar, drums, harmonica, and the dulcimer, which I borrowed from a friend. So I did an amateur recording on analog , for my son's second birthday. It was called Billy's Lullaby, my son's name. The Beatles helped me out with their songs throughout troubled life, filled with depression and alcohol, and losing my mom to cancer. I will always remember the BEATLES!!! GOD BLESS ENGLAND, where they are from. And GOD BLESS AMERICA, where I am from.

This is the kind of song that SO many women dream will be dedicated to them (even though we know it will never happen). The song communicates so much love, dedication, and awe to his then-partner Linda.

You need to listen to the Beatles “Long Tall Sally” and “Oh Darling” to really hear Paul’s vocal abilities! Amazing!!!

In The Beatles Paul played various instruments on various tracks including bass, drums, pianó and acoustic guitar... So yeah he's well capable. He's done 3 McCartney albums now where he does everything himself.

Several artists have played all the instruments and sang all the harmonies and wrote all the songs too. Todd Rundgren has done that for whole albums one was a double album.

Well, solo on 3 of the 4 sides, as I remember, “Something/Anything “ was the name of the album. Yes Todd is insaaaaaaanely talented, but I find few reactions to his stuff. He made his $$bucks$$ producing, like Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re An American Band”

Yes, Paul did everything on that album. After Nirvana Dave Grohl also did a solo album where he wrote, sang and played all the instruments. It was titled as the first Foo Fighters album but he didn't even have a band yet. Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, also played every instrument, wrote and sings on his debut album...it's incredible. Watch the video 'Don't Back Down'...it totally rocks and shows him playing all the instruments, and he's got an incredible voice. Good sense of humor in the video, too. His first tour was opening for Guns n Roses, so yeah, he's great.

Paul was going through a lot of hard times right after The Beatles broke up and Linda helped him transition into a completely new life without the other 3 lads. This song is an emotional tribute to Linda for being the rock that he needed to get through everything including legal battles after the band broke up. He took a lot of blame for the breakup.

This is my favourite McCartney track. He absolutely adored Linda and was devastated when she died. I think they only spent something like 2 nights apart in their whole marriage.

For next non-Beatles Paul McCartney song, I would recommend the studio versions of either "Band on the Run" or "Silly Love Songs". The live versions are good, but Paul's production of the studio versions is so good. It is really hard to recommend Paul McCartney songs. He is the most successful songwriter/musician of all time and has written over 500 songs. For Beatles songs, where to start, so many songs, so many styles? I would probably say one of Let It Be (the album version), Hey Jude (the studio version), or "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End" the medley from the Abbey Road album. For his gritty voice, Oh! Darling from the Abbey Road album is a great example.

Hey, I told ya Macca could bring the heat. If you've only heard him singing "light" songs with the Beatles then you haven't done a deep enough dive into the Beatles. One of his main influences was '50s R&B singer Little Richard. You should always have to look at the influences to understand the progression of music - especially in the rock and roll era because so much of it was stolen/adapted from R&B and blues from the 1930s-50s. I keep saying all these reaction channels going gaga over Robert Plant but Plant straight up rips off a lot from Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Screaming Jay Hawkins, and Robert Johsnon. You can say the same about Elvis and Mick Jagger and just about every rock singer.
