Yes, I'm 65 and still like my rock, blues, southern rock loud. They haven't heard musicians that are really good and songs have meaning. They like beat and bass 🔊 🤣. But will give other stuff a listen 🎶. 🎶 I love when they get happily surprised.

Something a girl said to me once that has stuck with me for decades... Queen didn't make songs. They made anthems. Every one of their songs is like it's in it's own genre, truly insanely gifted group of musicians. I highly recommend doing a reaction to their entire Live Aid performance at Wembly. It's a bit long, but it's worth it. Truly one of the most powerful live performances in history.

Queen is actually considered to have done the greatest live set in musical history, when they took the stage at the Live Aid Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985. The way Freddie had the audience in the palm of his hand has never been matched, at least on video. Every other band there that day, and there were some of the best ever, said that it was Queen's day and that they had never seen a crowd react like that before.

Did you know that Legendary Queen guitarist Sir Brian May, is also an astrophysicist with a PhD? He was also a "science team collaborator" with NASA's New Horizons Pluto mission. He not only collaborated with NASA on its New Horizons mission to Pluto but also created a rock anthem and video to honor the spacecraft, which in 2019 logged the most distant flyby in history-and is still going. Bass guitarist John Deacon, has a degree in Electronics. Drummer and backing vocalist Roger Taylor, has a bachelor's degree in biology. Freddie Mercury had a degree in graphic art and design.

It definitely was a foreboding line, in retrospect. I feel the “man” he killed is himself. I feel it’s related to his original mental struggle of being gay in the face of loving Mary, his fiancé, and the expectations of his parents and the Zoroastrian faith. He made the decision to embrace his homosexuality and killed the old Freddie.

It is rumored (and partially confirmed) that he wrote this about a plague that had began hitting a few of his close friends and he watched them battle it. At that time it was wasn't studied yet much less named, it was simply whispered about as "that gay disease".

I'm 39 and enjoy all genres of music, old and new, foreign and local, from the heaviest metal, to the cheesiest pop. I play piano, have played the guitar and a number of other instruments, as well as having done some digital stuff as well. There is still plenty of talent (both with digital and traditional instruments), as well as there still being plenty of talented people. The issue isn't that it's disappeared, it's that people don't look deep enough. It's also worth noting that music composed digitally, like art done digitally, isn't easier. It's different, but still requires an intricate understanding of music to actually get anywhere with it.

They did the soundtrack for the Highlander movie starring Christopher Lambert. You should check out the song 'Gimme the prize' , it's REALLY good. The album is called ' A kind of magic'. Freddie trained to be a opera and classical singer but became one of the best front men of one of the best rock bands ever!
@Retrochild1979
@Retrochild1979 Жыл бұрын
Thanks to Quora: Freddie did not have operatic training. His only training came from being in choir in boarding school and taking piano lessons. Freddie was a self taught singer and worked very hard to practice and determine his best sound. He fell in love with Montserrat Caballé‘s operatic vocals, and when she asked to meet him, he and Mike Moran went to Barcelona to see her. They formed an immediate bond which led to the creation of the album. Barcelona Freddy sang in the tenor range, but Montserrat said he was a true baritone, and he sang that way for her.

So glad you guys are truly appreciating the greatest that is Queen. Bryan May is the master of the guitar - he started the band with Freddie Mercury. Guys they were revolutionary - you should watch the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. Its easy to forget Brian May made that guitar himself as a teen. Brian filled the wormholes with matchsticks as he carved out the neck. The center body of the Red Special was created from oak, the wood recycled from an old table. The sides of the guitar could be made of weaker material since they don't have to support the string tension - Insane right? The wood from an old table lol

I’m a black woman who just fell in love with Queens music and rock n roll. The song that you listen to which is a masterpiece was about Freddy Mercury telling his mother that he is a gay man. If you all have not seen the Live Aid performance he did in the 80’s it’s one to watch. Not sure if you all have watched Boy George, Madonna and Sade but those artist were just phenomenal and made some awesome music. As of today all of you have a new subscriber….. keep enjoying the music and I will enjoy reminiscing the wonderful times of my childhood.

This song was Freddie's ode to his mother. Letting her know that he was living a double life and how he fought with thoughts of unaliving himself because of the mental anguish it causes. This was his coming out song. Where his old self passed on. Also was his confession to the world that he was dying his HIV had progressed to AIDs. This song is an absolute Musical masterpiece. FINALLY! I have waited months for y’all to “open your eyes” to the greatness of Queen. Btw, if a commenter has not already said this, the opening “four heads” is not four voices. It is all Freddie harmonizing with himself. He was in a class by himself but as a band together, Queen’s studio harmonies are meticulous and masterful. With some exceptions, the live versions blow studio out of the water but both are incredibly & wonderfully different experiences. Please go down the Queen rabbit hole, you won’t be disappointed.
