This song is such a beautiful revenge song in a way. She understands what this love did to her and that his love caused scars to her. He had her heart inside of his hand and he played with it to his own liking. It's painful! There's a part of her that is completely pissed and doesn't want to be messed with. She knows the truth and isn't afraid to speak up but the thing is, the scars of his love makes her think of the good times too. She wonders, "We could have had it all, marriage and happy life together, if it wasn't for you!
I remember feeling this way with the narcissists in my life, before I knew that they had a personality disorder, and thinking why were things so painful with them but yet I'd keep coming back.
