Our first time reaction to ZZ Top's two song combo "Waitin' For the Bus / Jesus Just Left Chicago". Mrs. Coach normally doesn't like this kind of music. Will she like this one?
Lyric video used in this reaction: • Waitin' For the Bus / ...

The Pre-Eliminator stuff is best. Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers is one you should do.

ZZ Top "Brown Sugar" Live From Gruene Hall is from their first album and one you've probably not heard yet. This viewing is in HD.

Perfect. We want to do a live, so this might be the one. Thanks for the tip!

I was 16 in ‘73 when this first came out. It was one of the biggest, most popular albums of the day. If you haven’t heard it after all this time (50 years later), you must’ve been living under a rock. 🙂 Dusty Hill (bass player) is the only member who has passed on to date.

I love the chemistry you guys have and how real your reactions are. You are the first one's I've ever commented to after your Wizard reaction. As for other ZZ Top suggestions, that same album has more good songs like Presious and Grace and Master of Sparks. Fandango has The Backdoor Medley, it's a little long but it's a fun song to listen to because there's some back and forth that goes on between them. Thanks for keeping it real.

It's only Love, Just got Paid, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide, Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers, The Balinese. I prefer 70s ZZ Top. When MTV came along in the early 80s it changed the music industry. Of course the Internet has changed it all over again.

I'm pretty sure I have not heard much, if any, early ZZ Top. Mine started in the '80s. Thanks for the list.

Try “Nasty Dogs And Funky Kings” from the Fandango album. Side one, recorded live in the famous New Orleans Warehouse. Side two was gold, recorded in studio, like a half and half pizza done to perfection. Nasty Dogs, Bluejean Blues, Heard It On The X, and a couple more all good. (The X was pirate radio back in the day, transmitted across the U.S. border from Mexico) If you grew up in Texas in the 60’s forward, you knew it well. 🤘😎

That sounds interesting. Coach has never heard a ZZ Top song he didn't like.

@@CoachCastTV It’s a big club. 😉 There are a few, perhaps others have mentioned the trajectory of music ZZ Top created from their first four and even fifth album which was entirely blues based rock with all the trimmings. Meaning, it’s really a Grad Level Course in foundational Blues/Rock. All of Billy’s guitar techniques were a compilation of proper scales, rhythms, stops, turnarounds etc. done will little help from studio gimmicks. Solos and his famous pinch harmonics (which are simple by comparison today but so well done) are still some of the greatest in your face soulful playing there is. The emergence of MTV in the very early 80’s was the moment their production style changed very noticeably and with huge success. Most of us who grew up with them prefer their early stuff, but love that they were loose and fun all the time. Btw guys, there is one favorite straight blues/rock song from their second album I would love your reactions too. From the Rio Grande Mud album it’s called, Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell. New sub here, regards. 🍻

A little late to the party here... Great reaction once again... I recommend a couple of deep cuts... 1. Heard it on the X.. True story about an old radio station with a super big antenna that played great music. 2. El Diablo... A story about a desperado down in ol' Mexico. Enjoy...
