Wonderful reactions, Ladies! Especially the fact that you 'got it'. Not many people catch that 'twist' in the song. You understood that the preacher at the end of the song was the hooker's son and that she had turned her life around. It's definitely what you leave behind you.

Randy Travis has a lot of great songs “he walked on water” “forever and ever amen” my favorite is “deeper than the holler” Randy suffered a stroke years ago and can no longer perform.

It is nice to see three intelligent, sensitive ladies reviewing this. Most reviewers have nothing to say but are just their for their egos. You should have many more viewers than you do and most of the others should have far fewer. God bless you (from England)

Love your heartfelt reactions. In the song where they talk about what you leave behind and then they discribe what each of them left - you can figure out why there's only 3 Wooden Crosses.

I generally look at the comments first to see if the people reacting “got the story” before I listen! You TOTALLY got it and it is pure joy to see!!! It’s such a wonderful song and it’s really special to see someone get it and enjoy it too!! I’m new to your channel so I’ll take a peek before I make a suggestion! There are a few ideas I think you’d love!!

Andy Griffith was a big fan. He had Travis twice on his Matlock series, as a young man working his way toward Nashville, to be a country singer. Once, the car radio was playing one of his songs, and, the character said, " if * that* idiot can make it,so can I!"😂 He was on,once more,as himself, with Matlock telling him that he loved Travis's ' old timey sound.'😊

I really like this version of the song. The studio recording is a bit too cheerful sounding on the chorus, for the mood of the lyrics. But yes, it's a very powerful song. I got emotional reacting to it for the first time.

Just in case some did not catch it... The 4th Cross (the one that was not there) would have belonged to the hooker! She lived - and this is my opinion on the story of the song = The Preacher did NOT preach to the Hooker. All he did was- he got her to think about something... He asked her a simple question about an absolute truth: "Can't You See The Promised Land?" Referencing what Jesus Christ our Lord said: "Thy Kingdom Come..." Definition = That absolutely, and most assuredly, know this - The Kingdom of My Father IS GOING to come!!!. This got her to think and realize that her Sin of desire to please her flesh (and the flesh of others) was going to NOT allow her to see this Kingdom which is coming! And then, she then RIGHTED her life and took that "Blood Stained" bible given to her and began to read it! Then she shared the contents of The Word of God in that Blood Stained bible with her son, who eventually became a preacher who now is sharing the Good News with others! And... That is what the Hooker left behind!!! After The preacher left behind the Good News as he was dying, to the hooker! God still had a purpose for the hooker, even though she did not know it yet. He wanted her, and it came to show, that she really down deep, wanted Him as well! We are all sinners! And God wants NOBODY to perish. And the Bible is His word to be shared, shared so that we can Know that the Answer to that question the preacher asked the hooker is - Yes!
