JNone did this on his first leave home from the Navy, and this role was perfect for him! He was amazing.

Anything Rachel does with them is amazing she was on America’s got talent doing a queen cover and she was sensational if you haven’t listened to their wicked medley she’s brilliant in that ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

VP was focused more on touring back when Tony was with them so there aren't as many videos with him, or that feature his voice. He's the lead in Stuck in Traffic, and it's super funny. You can hear him on lead in The First Noel and White Christmas (watch the time stamp; when you think the video is over, keep watching). He's also great in the skits Road Trip and The Chicken Song. And if short-hair Geoff in Phantom took you by surprise, wait until you see short-hair Geoff dancing, in Cheerleader.

Rachel grew up in Orlando and is a theme park veteran like the members of VoicePlay. You are correct about her being the first choice for the SingOff. Both X factor and the were in production at the same time. Rachel made it to the finals in her category.

What a TREAT!!! Geoff had originally been going to have the lead, but when J None had leave they reworked the arrangement so that he could take the lead. I'm glad they did. If you haven't heard Rachel's Queen song Somebody to Love from her performance on X-Factor, look it up, react and I'll be there. Rachel and Tony together was such a pair. The haunting music, the background voices were so brilliant. This is in my top 10 and will always be. I love the movies (all of the versions) I never get enough of the music in this. Would love to see VP do some of the others songs from it.

Yes, you are absolutely right about J None having already left to join the navy; he did this one as a featured guest while he was on holiday leave. J none stays in touch regularly and had a recent interview with reactor, Qofy, and when asked if he would come back and join Voice Play when he was finished with military duty he simply stated that for him Voice Play was "never going away". There were recently a few "Mini's" released early on the patreon channel with J None and a statement from Geoff that a full video with J None would be done next month (you would love J None's part in "Superstition"). Yes, you were absolutely right about Rachel Potter being a planned member that auditioned with them for the "Sing Off" but ended up being temporarily replaced by Honey Rochelle when she was competing on X-Factor 2013 (she has 11 videos that she does with Voice Play including "I Knew You Were Trouble/As Long As You Love Me" which was the video they posted on their own that prompted "Sing Off" to call Voice Play back and ask them to audition again with Rachel). Yes, you were absolutely right about Tony Wakim playing the part of Phantom here. I miss Tony's voice, acting skills, beautiful eyes and facial expressions but he did not like touring and wanted to stay home and focus on production and day to day management of 'PattyCake Productions' (We can't really say he "left" Voice Play and his song writing and play writing is amazing too). I am hoping you will get to check out Tony and the line up from the "Sing Off" tour in "Road Trip".

I always get goosebumps and feel a little awed after The Phantom of the Opera video.

Gargoyles! Loved that program. Started watching it because so many of the voices were done by actors from _Star Trek: The Next Generation_ . Gods, I still remember the intro, _"Stone by day, warriors by night. We were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect, frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years..."_ Awesome reaction, Cole!

I love how they arranged a solo piece to be an ensemble piece just as they did for another iconic solo piece: Oogie Boogie. They did such a good job recreating the scene. Did you notice that when he says “I’ve got voodoo” that the sacrificial chicken is HeiHei from Moana? They like to put in funny little bits when they can- especially if Layne does the arrangement. The build up towards those last notes in Phantom give me the chills every time. Tony really mastered the cape swirl. He performed the part of Dracula in Universal Studios Beetlejuice Rock’n’Roll Graveyard Review for years and it was the perfect role for him. It is one of the few were Tony actually takes the lead and he has such a beautiful voice. Grim grinning ghosts also features him a little bit and in that one, other than Geoff’s crazy scary laughing butler, is my favorite in that piece.

Geoff was actually supposed to be the main lead on "Friends on the Other Side", but they changed it when it became possible to bring back J.None

The fun fact about this video is that the sceptre with scullshead that JNone wields was first used by Geoff way back in the Queens medley VP did. 4 VP baritones on set. Tony Wakim not seen here, but busy backstage, is seen in the BTS. Layne as original baritone, before turning to beat-boxing, JNone and Cesar. I might be wrong, but I think it was shortly considered that Geoff should take a larger role, but then the possibility of JNone guesting became a reality. Some find the Phantom here slightly menacing, the masked men circling around Christine as the role is called.

Friends on the Other Side I have heard that Geoff was going to take the lead, but when J None was going to be on leave and available, they switched it. J None just did a short on Tik Tok of him singing that last part and his final note that he sings is the lowest that he has ever sung, don't remember what it was. My bad. He came back this fall, they released 3 minis on their Voiceplay Minis channel. They said in a chat that he also did a full song with them that will be released later this year. Phantom of the Opera This one is more terrifying to me than anything else they've done, but so gorgeous! Tony said in the outro that it was a departure for them, that they hadn't done anything this theatrical before. I guess that makes this one the first for the Theater Kids of Acapella! Thanx for taking us on this ride.

Yay for VP and Geoff Tuesdays again 🤣 Can't wait for you to dive into more of their stuff. You need to do the Wicked medley if you want to see an amazing arrangement and vocals. So many more I can suggest but I will wait and see what you come up with.

Loved The Gargoyles. So glad J-None came back to do this. He was perfect for it. He joined the service don't remember which branch. Rachel is marvelous.

I keep wishing they’d bring back Tony for a featured spot in a song. I love his voice. Wouldn’t mind it if they did that with Earl as well. That E6 by Rachel-dang! Great reaction!!!

Other good ones for J None include Carry On Wayward Son, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, Tennessee Whiskey, Jingle Bells, You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch, Warriors. Rachel is in a lot of their stuff, particularly a lot of the ones where they needed a Disney princess voice, which she is great at; but as you see here she can also pull off more Broadway-ish stuff. She's particularly good in Little Mermaid, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, Wicked, and this one. Yes, that's Tony in the male lead, and this (Phantom) is the best thing they've done with him in it; First Noel is also pretty good.

My favorite JNone’s best performance is Warriors.

If you want to hear both Eli and J.None showing off, find Tennessee Whiskey. Geoff shows off a bit there too. Also, Layne sings as well, although he’s usually too busy being a drum set. Check out True Colors to hear Layne taking the lead. He has a line or two in If I Was A Rich Man.

Voiceplay released their Christmas video yesterday morning... The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late). Geoff is releasing his Christmas video tomorrow at 1pm EST... I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas. Pattycake Productions will be releasing their Christmas video soon. Pattycake is owned by Layne and former member Tony Wakim (Phantom of the Opera). It's where Voiceplay and Geoff film their videos. Pattycake makes all original videos. Writing, producing, editing, arranging, etc. Tony makes all the costumes. They also film other artists as well.
