What makes Vader so scary and cold is that you can’t see his emotions through his helmet, he has that presence that even the audience fears him when he shows up on screen.

Yeah even tho inside the suit of darkness it's just anakin suffering in there however Anakin was ruthless and cold once he turned to the dark side but when he got the suit he became even more ruthless and more cold.

Vader caused most of his own problems like joining the Sith just to save Padme only to kill her himself out of anger right after slaughtering a room full of younglings. He did not deserve to be redeemed

Bring me next week man, how'll they'll get off planet , etc. Mixed Reactions never failed to bless us on any day of the week! Also, hearing a de-aged James Earl Jones in the entire episode is equally impressive, most impressive.

Ewan said recently, as he was filming the fight scene with vader he got genuinely scared when he shows up behind him. He's so imposing he genuinely scares people even while filming.

I've seen a lot of people complain and call the show a dissapointment because obi wan was running away from darth vader, but honestly, seeing everything that he went through and now seeing his old friend like this, for me makes perfect sense that he would try to escape, besides, they're definitely gonna face off by the end

Well if you also think about it he buried his light saber and he closed himself off from the force. He is 10 years out of practice, all he has done really is meditate. What is he going to do against Vader who has consistently been merking people and Jedi 10+ years like it’s no problem.

Agreed. I think it's obvious to many fans, but I don't think everyone realizes that Obi Wan is practically paralyzed by his PTSD from everything he has been through up to this point in his life. Which is also the reason he isn't quite ready to face off with Vader in one-on-one combat. The shock of learning that his old padawan, his adoptive brother and friend who turned his heart toward darkness (and whom Obi Wan maimed and left for dead), is actually alive and has literally become a ruthless killing machine. The people who are shocked to see him kill a random village child so coldly have forgotten that this is the same person who slaughtered many of the younglings at the Jedi Temple when Order 66 was activated.

Agreed. I went through the same shit as obi wan but the difference is, “Darth Vader” is my ex gf and ex best friend (he took her from me). And seeing them together during the first few weeks after a break up is like having your breath cut off and feeling too weak to run away.

People complaining that Obi ran clearly dont know shit about the story. Obi spend his life hiding and running till he starts training Luke. I for one am glad the show didnt ruin itself by putting Obi 1v1 Vader cuz it makes no sense. Vader was killing jedi and inquisitors left and right so at this stage Obi probably stood no chance in beating him.

The Anakin vision in Obi Wan was genuinely unsettling. Ewan Mcgregor once again proves to us how fantastic he is as Obi-Wan Kenobi. His portrayal of the PTSD of Obi-Wan is so heartbreaking yet fascinating. I can’t wait to see a full on scene between him and Hayden in a Flashback if they do it.

I think Obi Wan didn't run because, even though he knew he should, he also wanted to see. Lost in disbelief that this thing is or WAS Anakin Skywalker. I was shocked Vader was there,but him killing the boy and force choking the others didn't shock me at all. Of course he'd do that. What happened with the council etc doesn't matter anymore, he's pain , anger, hatred. He's now all those things that Yoda said would lead to the dark side.

Whenever someone asks me who the greatest movie villain of all time is I will show them this episode. Vader proves once again why he is the master of fear! First he starts by just brutally force chocking and and snapping the necks of random civilians, even dragging one behind him with the Force down a street without breaking stride or even saying a word. Then ignites his lightsaber just to instill fear into Obi-Wan. Then after toying with Obi-wan he drags him through a river of fire like he left Vader in. Also Hayden Christiansen killed it in this episode. He looked and felt like the Vader we all knew but when he knocked back Obi-Wan as he was fighting him he started to almost stalk him like in their battle on Mustafar.

This is definitely the best, or should I say worst, brutal, merciless, vengeful, and ruthless Darth Vader I have ever seen him as since his last duel with Obi-Wan 10 years ago. A literal horror movie moment come to life, and definitely a killer whose crosshairs you do not want to end up on, or else it'll be an instant, violent, painful death for you. Just goes to show how morally removed and far gone Anakin Skywalker has fallen, consumed by the power of the dark side and his own destructive hatred and anger at his former friend.

I kinda wish there was a different timeline where Vader came to Tatooine and decided to stop at Owen's house during the day: Vader confronts Owen. Luke runs up and says "Hey Uncle Owen, who's that?" Vader (to Owen): "I thought you had no other siblings..." Owen looks nervous. "I had you, brother..." Vader looks at Luke, back to Owen, back to Luke. "My.....son.....?" ...to be continued.

IMHO the best thing Modern star wars has done is that they finally Portrayed Darth Vader as a Scary and rageful Monsters the OT Trilogy just said "oh everyone fears Darth Vader in the galaxy" but didn't really show WHY everyone is so afraid of him. Modern Games, Movies or Shows and Comics is finally showing Vader as the guy everyone is afraid of in the entire galaxy

This really emphasises that during the original trilogy, Vader was restraining himself. If you aren't related to him or at a really high station in the Empire, you're screwed.

I swear everybody fears Darth Vader and he’s not even real but just his sheer brutality of snapping the kids neck reminded me how unhinged and how much the dark side really took Anakin Skywalker.

We've always been told how evil Vader was, but only now are we really seeing it. This single episode has done more for capturing his reputation than everything previous. Fantastic! Also, great to see Hayden in the suit.
