The Dune trilogy is following in the lines of the Lord of the Rings trilogy because rather than being a studio money grab it’s a passion project for every person on the team. Denis Villeneuve has said that Dune is his all time favorite book and that he’s read it over a hundred times, as has Hans Zimmer. The DP/Cinematographer Greig Frasier has said that Dune is his dream movie, and his track record is pretty insane. The costume and set designers are both well known for their period piece designs and took those and reimagined them for a future that is very very antique feeling, the world of Dune is more like the 1700s than anything. And of course the VFX by DNEG are off the charts, but they’ve done basically all the legendary modern Scifi movies. All around the best possible team that could be put together, the Dune trilogy is definitely this generations LOTR

The black and white, the director has said, is not just a stylistic device, but literally how Geidi Prime looks in direct outside daylight. Like their atmosphere, whether naturally or because of pollution, has become polarising, so that outdoors everything looks only black and white, drained of all colour. They shot those scenes with infrared sensors, it's a whole thing. So no, this will not be flashbacks.

My thought exactly! It was fun to see them nerding out but talking over every second of the trailer is a bit much. As a book reader, I love these takes but it does kill the hype a bit for that reaction.

Piter died in the first movie fellas. That was Christopher Walken playing the emperor saying "Send assassins"

From interviews and other info, it sounds like the black and white will represent what Geidi Prime looks like during the day, as all the over industrialization has kind of killed the environment. Apparently it was also shot with infrared lenses. Love the video!

Yeah, in the last interview he did he said that it's the star from Giedi Prime opperates on some sort of different physics and it kills all colours. Probably won't be explaining this, it's a reasoning for the way it looks like that in the movies. He also said it's post effects, they shot in infra-red to get that look, on set.

The last time I was this excited for a movie release was Dune Part One which ended up being my favorite film of all time. I saw it in Imax twice which probably helped a ton in terms of enjoyment level. I remember seeing the teaser that played before Tenet for Dune Part One (before I became a hardcore Dune fan) and thinking well that was the best teaser I have ever seen for a film. It wouldn't surprise me at all if what Denis Villeneuve has cooked up for Part Two may be one that goes down as an all time great.

Watched the first movie then read the book, and now I'm so excited to see Part 2! The first one really captured the essence of what was written on the pages. It nailed the feeling of a truly desolate planet.

Villeneuve said that Hans Zimmer never stopped working on the soundtrack of the movie, that he wrote the new songs to get him in the mood for writing the second movie. And hinted that he may be already writing the new songs for Dune Part 3 (the Dune Messiah book)to get him in the mood for writing that!
