I def feel you on DNF arcs . And doing it respectfully. As I always say I wanna read for fun and a hobby if I don’t have fun it’s gotta go 😂

I loved the direction of it but something about the flow made it hard to read at times 😭 I am going to be so sad if I don’t enjoy the final book.

It’s totally understandable your reasons for soft dnf’ing the arc. I really want to read the JJ MCavoy series you mentioned!! Also, LOVe your Frog and Toad tshirt soooo much

The Davenport was one of my favorite books I read last year. The characters stole my heart and I was smitten, too. But I read it on audio so if I’m being honest I do think that saved it for me. I feel like if I would’ve read the physical copy I probably would’ve DNFd. I hope they make the changes you mentioned for the second book. I plan to read that on audio too and I want to love it as much as the first book. When I tell you I’m anxiously awaiting book 2… it’s ridiculous 😭

I may need to do a re read of the 1st one on audio! I love a good audio book experience. 🤗 I’m going to be so sad if the arc remains the same. It wasn’t horrible by any means but after being obsessed with book 1 it just wasn’t hitting the same.

Kudos to you for respecting your own feelings and soft dnf’g the arc. I have received two arcs this year and powered through them both, even though I wanted to stop. I had so many issues with them but kept going bc I felt obligated. Which only made me resent the books even more.

just curious, once you read an arc do you read the finale version to see if any changes were made?

@@KaylasBookishVibes I think I would if I actually enjoyed the arc. But the arcs I received were my first two ever…and I had too many issues with them to ever wanna revisit them 😅 If I ever receive another arc and I have a bad experience I’m gonna assume the universe is trying to tell me arc reading isn’t for me 😅

My sis said, "A Soft DNF" 🤣 That's how I felt about "Waiting for Friday Night" by Synithia Williams. I could see me reading this during football season!

That’s such a shame! I was looking forward to starting the davenports soon but I do wonder why they didn’t get their own book especially because it seems like it does focus on the romance.

I think making that decision was fair! Especially since the book was unfinished. I had zero clue that some ARCS be unfinished. I thought that was only during the BETA reading process. Shocked the heck out of me. I would have been so mad. 😂

Most arcs i’ve read had no real changes in the finale release. I am hoping there were a few slight changes made to this one though. 😅

“It’s just thunder” in the British accent 😅 The Davenports is a book I plan to read before the end of the year. Hopefully the finished product of the second book is better. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts so we know what to expect. 🫶🏽

When you’re a visual reader, the story definitely needs to be cohesive and flow smoothly.

exactly!! sometimes I feel like i’m standing right there with them 😂 you gotta let me know when we’re talking to someone new or when we’ve moved to a whole other scene.

I get why you dnf the arc my friend she gets copies of arcs all the time and she does the same and provide the feedback to the author.

“It’s just thun-da”🤣🤣 I just got the Davenports, I can’t wait to dive in sometime soon. Maybe if you go back to the sequel later you’ll end up liking it. Sometimes we’re just not mentally ready for certain books at certain times you know? Great video per usual🫶🏽

I really feel like that’s what it was. I refuse to believe it’s a solid dnf, just wasnt the right time. My dog is British. I have to talk to her in an accent or she won’t listen 🤭🤣

I feel the same about the scene changes, I need them to be clear. I hate when it feels like I am reading the same sentence multiple times. Hopefully the finished version will fix those flaws
