Get the Highest Quality Electrolyte euvexia.com . MCT OIL and COCONUT OIL are routinely called a "superfood", a "healthy fat" and a staple for a keto diet. They are found in supermarkets and health food stores, but according to the news coconut oil might not be as healthy. In this video Dr. Ekberg reacts to a report from Canadian CBC News. They refer to a study on MCT oil and then attempts to discredit coconut oil on the sole basis that it contains saturated fats.
The report compares Coconut oil to butter, olive oil and lard inferring that the more saturated fats something has, the worse it must be. Watch a Real Doctor React To Absurd MCT OIL & COCONUT OIL Claims and give you the actual truth about saturated fats in general and coconut oil in particular.

Years ago my doctor prescribed Lipitor for a statin to reduce my cholesterol and triglycerides. Due to the cost of Lipitor, I petitioned my doctor to prescribe a generic statin instead. She insisted that I continue to use Lipitor. After the patent for Lipitor expired and drug companies could copy it, she had no problem with generic drugs. Learned later that Phizer was giving her perks like cruises and vacations to prescribe their drug. Follow the money.

Thank you for reaffirming how I have been eating since I was a kid. I get about 50- 60% of my calories from coconut oil, MCT oil, grass fed butter, bacon and bacon grease, grass fed beef, olive oil, avocado oil and fish oil. I grow my own fruit and vegetables and limit my bread intake. I avoid the common seed oils like soybean oil, canola oil, vegetable oil. and cottonseed oil like I avoid the plague as well as soda pop. My LDL cholesterol is 40-50 mg/dl, triglycerides 20-40 mg/dl, vldl cholesterol 3-15 mg/dl and HDL cholesterol 60-85 mg/dl. I feel good, I climb mountains, I am 71 years old.

My grandma and great grandma both lived long healthy lives and cooked from scratch mostly. They made pie crust and many baked goods with lard. They both saved and strained bacon fat to brown meat. People back then ate a lot of eggs, egg salad, omelets, quiche, etc The only sweets they consumed were homemade baked goods. Their beverages were coffee in the morning and tea throughout the day. Every time I watched them they were drinking water all the time and occasionally squeezed a little lemon in the water. Both were physically active into their 80’s. My grandma was up on a ladder cleaning gutters, mowing the lawn or shoveling snow. Back then ladies hung laundry on a clothes line and gossiped by the fence or do you remember the old “party line” telephone connections ? You heard the best gossip that way. Both avoided doctors like the plague.

No. The idea that all experts are corrupt is dangerous and ignorant. It's what manipulators want you to think. The vast majority of experts are highly trained people who know what they are talking about. A relatively small percentage of them are on the wrong track or are focusing on a sub-problem and missing the big picture. The field of human nutrition, sadly, is rather enriched in that small percentage. The real problem is the trashy media (mostly television), not the experts.

When i was pregnant, I developed diabetes. They asked me to take nutrition classes. I was in the room and the doctor that was telling us (about 13 women) she sounded pretty much like the reporter he is discussing. I knew about Keto already since I had just came off of it when I got pregnant (big mistake, I should have stayed) story short, by the end after giving us a diet to follow, 12 of those women ended up with insulin, and 1 (yes, that was me!) dropped her insulin levels by following Keto again, and I didn’t need insulin after all. The food pyramid is a lie, the food recommendations for diabetics patients is ALSO a lie! My mother is a full on diabetic and the doctor is still telling her she can eat rice beans and tortillas just in moderation. Believe it!

You are correct that stopping keto was what did it. Being fat adapted over a long period of time on a keto diet means your body forgets how to manage carbohydrates. Suddenly switching would have been like throwing a none swimmer in the deep end of the pool and saying ’have fun’! As you went on to find, there’s no reason a mother can’t carry whilst practising keto but anyone who plans to return to eating carbs either needs to include small quantities with their normal diet or do a stepped reintroduction over a long period of time.

"Saturated" is a very unfortunate and misleading term. The word "stable" would be much more accurate. Then we could refer to stable and unstable oils. That terminology better describes them.

Thank you Dr. Ekberg! As a Canadian, I was truly embarrassed by this segment regarding the absence of "investigative journalism" that was done in preparation for that CBC report. None of what resulted came as any surprise to me given the shortsightedness of our Federal Government and its funded agencies (including the CBC). Thankfully there are resources like you out there for those of us that call the bluff of the government controlled national food guides and want to think way outside "the box". Pro tip: If you want some coconut oil in your life, pick up a half-pound, $1.99 bag of organic unsweetened coconut chips at Trader Joe's. About 10 years ago I heard that margarine was not really food and I had suspected something funny going on with this strange stuff, so I put it to the test. It was either spring or summer when I placed a good dollop of margarine on one saucer and a good dollop of butter on another, then I placed them in my shed. Every so often I would check upon my experiment, and it was then that I noticed the flies were only landing and eating the butter. Not one fly did I see, or ever see on the margarine. After some more time, the butter was turning mouldy, (as it should do being made of real food), however the margarine remained the same, only slightly paler looking. I think I left my experiment going for a good year. In the end, the butter had completely disappeared, whereas the margarine remained with the same volume, only resembling Vaseline. I have heard that margarine has more in common with paint than any food!! Your channel is fascinating and very helpful for those who want to eat the correct and healthy food. . Thank you.

Excellent video. I've known a lot of that for years, but not nearly at that detail. Thank you so much. One elephant in the room that just occured to me is the use of the word "fat". It's kind of hard to push any-saturated "fat" as good vs carbs and sugar when obese people are referred to as "fat". I'm mostly paleo, but not rigid. I eat grass fed butter, some grass-fed half and half with coffee, parmesean cheese, but that's about it for dairy. One other irony about the tv reporter, was that she did not appear to be eating healthy and was notably overweight. Guess she follows government guidelines for her diet. I am on my computer a lot and I still write poetry which keeps my brain sort of active and I still enjoy writing poems for family on bereavements that we've had over the years that encompass what they were like in life and I add comedy into most of it because life is like that at times and it's a sad occasion but it gives people something to keep them cheery at a time when they need cheering up!

I never know whether to laugh or cry. Whenever I hear the term "bad cholesterol" or see cereal commercials advertising their heart benefits I at first wanted to shout at the TV. When coworkers tell me that the brain needs sugar, therefore you must have it in your diet, and that you need to lower cholesterol in any way you can, I have to bite my tongue. Finally, I decided it isn't up to me to crusade, but to just take care of myself. Much less stressful. Thanks for taking on the role of making the information available.

Steven Cannell I tell anyone that I see about the harmful choices their making. Bye the way, I'm keto. I'm planting seeds of doubt within their subconscious . Eventually they'll make a connection in the near future that they need to change their life choices in order to feel better . I coach people on healthy dietary living in Canada, and also life coach . The two go hand in hand on improving their physical and mental states . Most often I get a very positive response and other times people just ignore me. I'm just doing what I can to bring about the truth! One personal intervention at a time...

My mother cooked with coconut oil and she lived to 96 just because she slipped on the slippery bathroom floor with her carer not around, and nothing on the wall or chair to hold on to. Before accepting responsibility to keep an eye on elderlies make sure you know the danger signs in the bathroom, bedroom, stairs and doors, kitchen etc.

Now I understand why I wander around looking for food when I eat sweets and carbs. The more you eat, the more insuline you produce and more hungrier you are. I used to be tired of the constant need of eating and recommendations to "eat less but more often", and obviously to "avoid fat and count calories"... What a torture. On keto we can eat less, more substantial (fat) food and being free from hunger most of the time.
