6 жыл бұрынIt is thought that one in 100 school children are affected by Tourette’s Syndrome, a neurological condition affecting the brain and nervous system that is characterised by involuntary, random sounds and movements, known as tics - most are boys.
There is no cure, but there is hope, thanks to the pioneering treatment programme at the world renowned leading children’s hospital Great Ormond Street. This moving documentary follows the lives of three boys and their families over a six-month period as they share the reality of living with the condition and the daily obstacles they face. This is their story, in their own words.

I have tourette's and for people who don't know what it's like, that urge you have when you sneeze, you can't hold it in. It's basically the same with tourette's. I don't swear with mine but I have vocal and physical tics. Tics also really hurt to the point I've been crying and been in absolute agony.

Omg I've cried throughout this documentary so much for these boys! I really, really hope that there is going to be a cure for this horrible disease some day and real soon. I hope Connor got some intensive therapy through Great Ormond Street or elsewhere because he seems to have a lot of anger issues wrapped up with the Tourettes. Marco is a lovely, gentle boy. Connor did remarkably well suppressing his tiks.

Kalsylvania Reseller For Connor it definitely does line up more with Tourette’s. His “other personality” explanation is him using a common cognitive distancing technique. To separate yourself from your illness by giving it a name to help him realize that his illness is not a part of who he really is as a person. It can be helpful for people who feel guilt over things they can’t control

I can't help but think they portrayed Conner as if he had 24/7 tics! I can't believe how strong these children and families are given what they're going through. They're amazing children!

@@slime_cookies123slime7 tourettes can get better naturally as people age. Some people have very severe cases of tourettes as children but as adults the tics they have can pretty much fade away.

Feel really sorry for these kids what a tough thing to overcome. Glad that the disease is well known enough I think virtually anyone would understand and have compassion.
