El Real Madrid conquistó su quinta Copa de Europa ante el Eintrach de Frankfurt por un marcador de 7-3, en una final que se disputó el 18 de Mayo de 1960, en Hampden Park (Glasgow), ante más de 125.000 espectadores. Kopa played three seasons for Real Madrid, since 1956/57 to 1958/59, while Puskas played since 1958/59 to 1965/66, so they played together one season in what was called the golden attack: Kopa, Rial, Di Stéfano, Puskas and Gento. But that legendary attack did not work as well as expected (mainly beacause Rial had to change what had been his usual position in the squad the years before, and because Puskas was not at his best after two years without playing football), so that famous golden attack only played together in 18 games.

What I keep from this. 1.Gento must be the most underrated player of all time. 2.Puskas could score by any position. 3.Di Stefano was the one-man show back then. 4.Loy(Frankfurt's goalkeeper)was amazing,but could not show it in his full potential against that amazing offense. 5.I came to see Kopa,but for some reason he didn't play. 6.Rogelio Dominguez(Real's goalkeeper),was probably the weak link.

This game almost didn't take place at all. The German FA had banned its clubs from competing against any team containing Ferenc Puskas, because he had claimed that the West Germany team were on drugs for the 1954 World Cup final, in which they beat Hungary 3-2. It only went ahead after Puskas issued an apology. I bet he had his fingers firmly crossed behind his back! He certainly made Eintracht pay.

Be serious. They didn't have the offside rule and the defenders at their best were dummies. Football has evolved a lot and I don't see any of these performing decent in the modern football. Also, put Ronaldo or Messi in that team and they could've scored easily at least 5 goals every match.

What has improved are the managers tactics, but all this made the game boring as fuck with all those bus parking etc. Football back then was more atacking and both the teams played for the win. En 1956 el Athletic era el mejor y más laureado equipo del fútbol Español , seguido del FC Barcelona , el tercero el Real Madrid. 1- Athletic con 26 títulos 2- FC Barcelona 18 títulos 3- Real Madrid con 12 títulos 4- Atlético con 4 títulos. At which time was the game played? I read that only in 1961 Glasgow's Hampden Park installed floodlights but this looks like an evening match, so I am confused.

You can find an image of the match programme on-line, but there's a crease right over the kick-off time which makes it hard to read with certainty.. Looks to me like 7.30pm (and I remember watching the game on live TV as a young boy, and being sent to bed just after half time😡). Not early enough for a non-floodlit match? Possibly, but evenings at that time of year in Scotland are full daylight till surprisingly late. Would have been cutting it fine though if there'd had to be extra time!

Pretty woeful standard of goalkeeping by both sides, if you ask me. And the offence resulting in that penalty was surely only obstruction at worst - an indirect free kick.
