When they were at their peak circa 2012-2018, they dominated and won champions league 4 out of 7 times, although their performance in La Liga leaves a lot to be desired, and now in their rebuilding phase they still managed to win 2 La Liga titles and champions league. Mind you, this is currently still a team missing their next big superstar, the focal point player for them to build their team around for the next decade. Maybe, just maybe, as their rivals in La Liga are in disarray, compared to them who are a tad bit stable at least as a club, and given they might finally land on their next superstar, we might be in for a Real Madrid dynasty, both in La Liga and Champions League.

Real Madrid definitely proved they don’t rely on anyone. Di Stefano, Puskas, Raul, Zidane and CR7 left but Madrid is still lifting UCL. Real Madrid makes players, players don’t make Madrid.

Think of it, cr7 without hasn't gone past quarters (3 of them he didn't make the quarters) while real struggled initially struggled but made semis last year and winning this year. Its pretty clear who needed who more.

I think Barcelona at its best was also not a one man team for more than 50% of the time but I see where you coming from. Barcelona has had the most number of wins and most number of losses as a one man team. I don't blame any coach on entertaining the thought of building a team around Messi..but relying on one man was never gonna work 100% of the time.
