Terrance was always seen as the favorite, the golden child, the one who always seemed to had everything in life handed to him. But in reality, his life is just as much of a dumpster fire like his other siblings. As a kid, he had no friends… the other kids found him weird because he was smarter than them and liked to be indoors reading rather than going outside and play. It’s no surprise that Terrance was gifted, and William saw that and praised him for that. And while he constantly put him on the pedestal…. He had a lot of expectations for him.
Expectations Terrance had to constantly live up to.
Expectations that would drain him and make him carry all the burdens.
Expectations that made him believe failure meant rejection.
Terrance grew so afraid to speak up or go against what his father wanted, that he became his lap dog just so he would be accepted and loved. He became so afraid and stressed of failure, he would break down if he did one thing wrong. He knows what his father did to Mike was wrong, but Terrance never had the courage to do anything… because he believed if he did that, he would be unwanted by his father. Even now… he can’t be honest around his father thanks to all of that control he has over Terrance. And thanks to those expectations, Terrance developed a few disorders… anorexia being his biggest one. As the years pass, he changed and some of those habits died… but a mark was left on the boy, reminding him of how powerless he really is, no matter how hard he tries to fight back.
